In the chapter 6-7 range, a whole new roster of characters is revealed to the reader. Personally, im charmed by Ron’s humble disposition and hermoines know-how, but I would argue that draco is a two-dimensional villain who inspires no sympathy from the reader. Perhaps im just not far enough yet, but I think the author should’ve given him some redeeming qualities to make him a more compelling antagonist; so far as he’s done is be mean to Harry and have an incredibly vain attitude towards those who he perceives as less than him.
In response to tony’s “do you think Harry and Malloy could’ve gotten along better if they sat together on the hogwarts express?”: Personally, I think no, as malfoy early on is shown to hate anyone who has anything that even resembles a moral compass. I think there would’ve quickly been some intense friction between him and Harry, as Malfoy would likely feel threatened & insecure by Harry’s status as a hero in the wizarding world, and it’s unlikely they would’ve found any common topics to discuss had they sat together on the train (Harry was raised by muggles whereas malfoy is part of a long line of wizards).
Do you think harry would have found the 9 3/4 platform without the help of the Weasleys?

In my response to Tony’s message, I would like to correct an egregious spelling error I committed: malloy —> malfoy.
So much has happened in these past five chapters—the arrival at Hogwarts, Harry joining the quidditch team, the conflicts with professor Snape—making hard to pick just one question to ask but here we go:Why do Harry and Ron dislike Hermoine in the beginning? What happens in chapter 10 that changes the dynamic between the three of them? What strengths (and weaknesses) does she bring to the trio and how do you foresee her addition affecting the story moving on?
In response to Ethan’s question:I believe he would not have found the hidden platform entrance and would have become stranded at Kings Cross Station. With the Dursleys already home and under the assumption that Harry was off to Hogwarts, he would be stuck in the middle of London, penniless and without adult supervision. It’s sad to think what may happen under these circumstances, but suffice it to say, things would not end well for a lone 11 year old boy on those streets…
Here is my question:
Do you think Harry and Draco could've gotten along better had they sat together on the Hogwarts Express? Growing up in the Dursley household, you'd think that Harry would resent muggles once learning about magic, something that Malfoy is clearly proud of. If the two had more time to talk without having Ron in the picture, is it possible that they have more common ground than what we think?
