I had a really hard time getting into Mr. Timothy so I gave up and returned it to the library and instead went back to Maud with An Elderly Lady Must Not Be Crossed, the second set of octogenarian serial killer stories. Just as fun as the first set.
One of Us Is Lying: YA mystery that I've seen my students carrying around. I always like to read what they're reading so I grabbed this one when I saw it available. A solid 3 star read, which for me means I liked the book, I'm glad I read it, but I'm also glad I didn't spend any money on it.
A Whale of the Wild: my fourth grader read this and loved it, and she wanted me to read it too so we could talk about it. I never say no to that request! It was a beautifully written little middle grade book about an orca who gets separated from her family and has to find her way back, informed by solid science from orca researchers (detailed in an appendix).
My loan for next month's SF The Other Valley came in earlier than I anticipated, so I just went ahead and read it. I can't wait to talk about it with y'all because I stayed up too late finishing it last night, and rated it 5 stars.

Its cute and obviously a spin off from a larger mystery series for the author.
I have to admit, part of me has fantasized about doing some similar things when people have really annoyed me. :D

I've just finished Child of the Prophecy by Juliet Marillier, and am now reading the sequel Heir to Sevenwaters. And I'm on the last volume of the Glass & Steele series, The Imposter's Inheritance
I've just read the first few stories in Spoils of War, the first volume of Tales of the Apt. Fun to look back at the history of Collegium and the Empire before the series begins.
I also just started reading Squirrel Meets World with my 9 year old, and it's good fun so far.
