Modern Japanese short story (in a collection) about a man and a girl on a beach

As far as I can recall, the man and the girl tacitly decide they will kill themselves.

Probably read in the past 10-15 years.

I've checked some synopses of Murakami short stories and haven't found it, but I suspect it might be his. I could be wrong, though!

Name of the short story and the name of the collection would be welcomed, but obviously if I have only one, I can then find the other.

These aren't a perfect fit, but Patriotism or The Real Osamu Dazai: A Life in Twenty Stories ? I'm thinking the second one could have a story like you are describing, as a similar incident happened to the author: "Together, the pair attempted to drown off a beach"
