Romance/ Fantasy, set in modern times. Dystopian world involving portal travel to the “Past”, also involves some people who have secret powers. Spoilers.

I read this book maybe in the last 1-3 years. It’s about a girl, who is the main character, she’s in high school. A boy shows up in her life and it turns out that he’s actually from a dystopian world and he traveled to her through portal transportation. He came to find her to train her powers that she wasn’t aware that she had until he showed up. It’s a romance between Him and the main girl. Her neighbor is a doctor and but is corrupted, he funded a testing program to study teenagers neurological functions at her school but secretly they are putting chips in kids that have powers so they can control them for a war they plan to start, the main character is the prophesied person to stop the uprising. (I get can only remember bits and pieces of certain things) but farther in the book she gets this list of people with powers in her town that the “bad people” are trying to track down and chip to have them in their army, she tries to track them down to warn them, she gets scared and buried the flash drive with the list of names in her back yard so no one would find it. Later on she gets captured by the bad people and gets chipped (the chips make them complacent) and the boy (her love interest) is also captured and they start trying to make an example out of her because she is “the strongest out of all of them”. Eventually she and the boy break out of the compound they were trapped in with some help from other soldiers, and blow up the compound! That’s all I can remember right now but I absolutely loved this book and wished I could remember what the titles was!
