message 704: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Hey y'all! Just joined the group. I was looking for a way to get to know more younger people on this site who like to read as much as i do! ;)

Anyway, I'm Andrew and I'm an English major over in Idaho. I love reading ANYTHING, especially stuff that actually makes me think a little bit. Right now I'm interning at a book publishing company and it's absolutely fascinating to me. I'm also interning as a sports writer. Love sports and everything about them.

I love to write and have fun. Hiking is good times. Anyway, if ya wanna get to know me, just give me a shout out. :)

message 705: by estrobabe (new)

estrobabe I totally got excited when I saw this group for college students! Hi, I am Nisa from California! I hope to meet nice people here! Feel free to add me :)

message 706: by Robert (new)

Robert Clear (robertclear) Hi everyone, my name's Robert and I'm from London. I recently finished my PhD, so this group for current and recent grads looked good to me! Looking forward to getting to know the group.

message 707: by Resa (new)

Resa (resap) Hi, all! I'm Resa, currently finishing up my teaching certification in Missouri (should be done by December if they don't give me any more hoops to jump through.) I love reading, which is pretty obvious, otherwise I wouldn't be here. I also enjoy crafty things like sewing and cross-stitch, and my guilty pleasure is watching cheesy horror movies.

I'm currently reading "Chronicle of a Death Foretold" by Marquez (not really by choice as I have to teach it in the fall) but I'm finding it a lot more interesting than I thought I would. Now hopefully I can get my students as excited about it when the school year starts...

I'm looking forward to getting to know people here, very excited to have found a group for the college-age. Anything else just ask :)

message 708: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Welcome new members!

Resa, My boyfriend is from Missouri, around the Springfield area (then moved to Oklahoma for his PhD). Are you at Mizzou?

message 709: by Liann (new)

Liann | 7 comments Hello! (: I'm Liann, I just turned 17 years old a couple weeks ago and I'm starting college this fall! (Wheee, excited!) So... I guess I'm technically not a College Student yet? My orientation is this week though, so oh well. Close enough. (;

I love reading, it's definitely one of my favorite pastimes. I also enjoying chatting and doodling, and whatever. So hey! :D

message 710: by Resa (new)

Resa (resap) Lori, I'm actually at SEMO so I'm farther south in MO but I have a lot of friends at Mizzou and they love it there (although its a little too big for my taste).

message 711: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker My boyfriend did his masters there and we have several friends in Cape!

message 712: by Gigi (new)

Gigi (gigi-oz) Hi people! My name is G'Niel (pronounced Juh-Neel, blame my weird dad) and I'm 20. I'm in my second year of college and I completely stopped reading books like I used to. :( This summer I want to read at least 10 books. I just started reading A Deeper Darkness by J.T. Ellison. I'm all into mystery and crime books now thanks to my marathoning of Law & Order. Oh and I'm from Maryland. Anddddd I guess that it! I'm really nice but I'm shy even over the internet lol. :)

message 713: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker G'Niel, You'll just have to get over being shy. :). Welcome to the group. Explore and I'm sure you'll find a niche.

message 714: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (musicismylife2783) Hi! My name is Ashley and I'm 18 years old. I recently graduated high school and am about to go to college for Pre-Nursing and hopefully for nursing school later on. I obviously love reading. I'm an eclectic reader, but some of my favorite types of books are fantasy and classics. I'm not a huge YA fan, but some of it is good. I also like to practice martial arts and listen to music/sing. I'm not a movie person, nor am I much into TV shows EXCEPT America's Got Talent. It is way too addicting for me to stop watching it. But I would take reading a good book over watching AGT any day. :)

message 715: by Kiersten (new)

Kiersten (cestlaviekrc) | 3 comments Hello! My name is Kiersten. I am 19 and a college sophomore. I currently attend my local community college but I want to attend The University of Virginia. I am studying to be a paralegal. I am also considering law school. I love to read and write as a hobby and I might write a novel someday.

message 716: by diane (new)

diane (dianedaayan) Hello! My name is Smarika. I am 22 and am studying at my final year in law school. I like reading children's books, history, philosophy and fiction. I am hoping to read more of science fiction. I hope to get to know some interesting people here. :)

message 717: by Alison (new)

Alison Hi c:
My name is Ali, I'm a new member. I'm technically still in high school, but through the dual enrollment program in my county I've been able to start taking free college classes and they count as high school credits, too c:
My major is Social Welfare and I have dreams of becoming either a criminal prosecutor or specializing in family law. I live in Central Florida. (:

message 718: by Amy (new)

Amy | 1 comments Hi there! My name is Amy and I will be starting my senior year at Cleveland State University come the end of the month! I am excited about this as I never thought this would come. I have gotten to this point several times...and then something happens and I am unable to complete the year. I am a social work major and will start Grad school next year at Southern CT University.

I have always loved to read, but with school a lot of my reading is those blasted textbooks. I run a movie & book club on Meetup.com here in the Cleveland area. At times even though i lead the book club...i do not read the books due to school. This year I am changing that. My husband will be working in CT this year and so on my drives out to see him, I will find the audiobook version of the books that my group is going to be reading. Thank goodness for audiobooks!

I love Amish Fiction, chick books, and some non-fiction if it is written correctly. I look forward to this group.

message 719: by Shivanie (new)

Shivanie | 3 comments Hello My name is Shivanie. I've been on Goodreads for about a year now and i feel like getting more involved. I'm 22 years old and i live in Toronto, Canada. I'm a university student, studying Finance.

I love to read. It helps me to escape life sometimes and broadens my imagination. Anyway it's nice to meet people that read as much if not more than i do :D

message 720: by Minna (new)

Minna (manspirations) | 1 comments Hi everybody!!!!

I'm Minna, 19, from Atlanta. It certainly seems like I'm near the younger totem pole of this group. Our blog, Getting Lost in Words, is just getting out of the new stage and we are ready to come out of our shells. My fellow bloggers, Patch and Dexter, are definitely excited to be joining your group as well. We look forward to chatting with you all soon.

Justine | 6 comments Hi! Minna hope we can be reading buddies!

message 722: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (ladytaco) Hi everyone. My name is Sarah. I am 23, from Georgia, and I am an art student focusing on photography. I love to read every genre of book except romance novels. Currently I am reading through the Children of the Earth series by Jean Auel. They are such good books! I have too many favorite books but a few are The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith, White Oleander by Janet Fitch, the Harry Potter books, and the Lord of the Rings series. I love talking to other people who love to read! :)

Christie | 133 comments Hello and welcome, Minna, Sarah, Justine, and Andrea! And also . . . there's no such thing as too many books. ;)

message 726: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Bowen (singingvictoria) | 1 comments Hi I'm Victoria and I'm 21. I just got a Kindle recently, and I have been reading more than I used to. I'm an Elementary School major and Technology minor! :] I'm addicted to coffee and sweet tea - and once college starts again on Monday, both of those drinks will be in my hands haha.

message 727: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5 comments Hi, i'm Laura, i'm 19.I'm from Connecticut. I am a psychology and an early childhood education major. I have a fairly large book collection but my all time favorites would most likely have to be The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger and Marley and Me by John Grogan. My hobbies are reading-obviously- and cooking. I am currently reading Crossed by Ally Condie.

message 728: by Robin (new)

Robin (roboticrobin) My name is Scout, and I live in England! I'm 16, and I'm starting college on Monday! I love music and video games, as well as reading! I'm brand new to the group, though I have used the site for a while, I never tried getting into a community, so I thought now would be the best time to!
I will be studying Greek Mythology and Video Game Making.

message 729: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey (princessxkelsey) Hi I'm Kelsey, I am from California and 21. I just graduated in May with a BA in Sociology.

message 732: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1 comments Hi I'm Ashley. I'm 23 and I live in Vermont. I graduated last year with a degree in mathematics. I love reading, mostly in the fanatsy genre. Some of my favorite series include Lord of the Rings, Kushiel's Dart series, and Clan of the Cave Bear series. Other hobbies include watching TV, theater, and sewing.

I've never been in a book club before, but I'm quite excited to start discussing what I'm reading - I just start 'The Great Gatsby' for the first time so I'm looking forward the conversation about this month's book.

message 733: by Traci-Anne (new)

Traci-Anne (traciannecan) Hi I'm Traci. I joined the group a while ago, but I don't think I ever introduced myself. I am a senior English major in college, so right now I don't have much time to read for pleasure, but I am hoping I will have time come December.

message 734: by Martha (last edited Sep 24, 2012 10:32AM) (new)

Martha | 67 comments Hi! I'm Martha, I'm 22 and I'm from Texas. I actually just graduated in May with a degree in Environmental Biology. I absolutely love reading but didn't have much time to read for pleasure when I was in college so now that I'm not in school anymore I've been reading enough to cover those 4 years when I didn't read as much. I really like mystery books, especially the classics like Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie novels. I also love all the Harry Potter books, the Millennium Trilogy and the Southern Vampire Mysteries. Anyway, I'm really excited about being in this club and I'm looking forward to read new books and talk about them!

message 735: by Annie (new)

Annie | 13 comments Hi! My name is Annie. I'm 23 and a recent graduate with a degree in Biology. I love reading, but English is not my first language so I don't read as much ever since I moved to US. Now that I'm out of school with lots of time in my hands, I'm trying to change that. :D
I don't really have a favorite genre. I really enjoyed Sherlock Holmes and Jane Austen. I'm contemplating reading Twilight just to know what the fuzz is about. Anyway, I'm really happy I found this website and this group. I think this will keep me motivated and keep reading!

message 736: by Wei (new)

Wei Cho (lunexian) Hi! My name is Ciel (though I prefer it when people call me CS). I am 17 (soon turning 18). My major is architecture and I'm going to one of the best schools in the world (my opinion) for architecture: Syracuse University. Transferring to Cooper Union (another good school)is an option in the future. I live 3000 miles away from my hometown. I miss my family but at the same time love my dorm life.
I joined the group because it's about College Life! I want to find like-minded people and share thoughts about books, a passion in my life.
Because of school work, I can barely find time to read, which makes me sad. However, whenever I'm reading I'm blissfully happy.

message 738: by Cat (new)

Cat (peppermintdreamer) Hello, my name is Cat and I'm going for a major in Psychology. College is making it hard for me to read as much as I would like, but I try to sneak it in when I can. 2nd year of college and will be turning 20 soon. Joined this group to talk to people also in college. C:

message 739: by Warmdarksky (new)

Warmdarksky | 3 comments Hey all. I've been in college off and on for six years (cringe); only seriously for the last two! I'm going into engineering soon, and super nervous to start at 24. I love reading whenever I can squeeze it in, and hope I don't lose time for it completely over the next few years.

Don't feel anxious about starting at 24. I was older than that when I went back. Also, just talked to one my professors from a few years back and she said she prefers the students that are 25 or older. She says they are more dedicated, and get more from the classes.

Welcome all new members! Feel free to jump into our Fall/Winter Challenge, vote for our October book reads (polls end the 30th) and share on any of the threads.

message 742: by Mirra (new)

Mirra (Mirrkat) | 7 comments Hi all. My name is Mirra.I'm 21, and reside in the beautiful sunshine state. I am currently in school, but undecided with a major. Unfortunately my friends have ZERO interest in reading (Pathetic, right?) so I am thrilled to be apart of this group. I love music, theater, sports, art. I have always loved reading and can get lost in a book rather quickly, which sometimes can get me trouble with lateness to class/work :)

message 743: by Alana (new)

Alana | 1 comments Hi everyone! My name is Alana and I am 22 years old. I live in southern California and I just graduated from UC Santa Barbara in June with a degree in film and media studies and communication. I absolutely love to read anything and everything and I read as much as I can.

I am excited to be a part of a group of fellow book lovers and I look forward to discussing all types of books with you!

message 744: by Erica (new)

Erica Ruff | 1 comments Hi all! My name is Erica, I'm 26 and I live in NYC. I am relatively new to reading for pleasure and am very excited by the books proposed here. I'm finding it nearly impossible to start a book club here in the city because everyone is so busy, so I decided to turn here.

Looking forward to it!

That is until I saw that one of the books for this month is one of my favorites, the heist society. If anyone can help me find the thread chat that would be much appreciated!
P.S. I love historical fiction, mystery, and adventure books!
