I used to enjoy his columns before his second marriage more than the ones that came after, but do like many of them. His books usually get 3 stars because how much I like each essay varies from 1 all the way to 5.
Is this an actual memoir rather than separate essays?

Memoir of growing up disabled from polio in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as war was breaking out. Amazing, authentic personal story of survival and overcoming adversity - a mother's love and a little girl's courage that never gave up. Takes place during the 1990's and 2000's.
