Lopsided Library Wagon (4)
Jill, I'm not sure if your book qualifies for this Week's task. You need to read a book that will get you 70 miles. 'Read a book of your choice' was last Week's task.

oops, let me check

Book: Alpha Coder
Author: Kathryn Sparrow
Pages: 272
Task: Read a book with a title that begins with a letter found in THE OREGON TRAIL
How Book Qualifies: Starts with A
Date Read: 02/10/25

This is Week 6 of your journey West to Oregon. Each team member will read a book that will take them 70 miles.
To go 70 miles, read a book:
with the numbers 7 and 0 in the publication date - OR -
written by an author whose first, middle, or last initial can be found in MILES - OR -
with a title that begins with a letter found in THE OREGON TRAIL (you can use or ignore 'A', 'An', 'The')
*******************************************************
You received the Snake Bite Calamity Card.
Hopefully you have the Supply Card that blocks this Calamity.
If you don't have the Supply Card, one team member will need to read the task to counteract the Calamity. You will miss out on the 70 miles that that team member's book would add to the total mileage for that Week.
A different team member can read two (2) books during the Week to make up the 70 miles that the person reading for the Supply Card will not accomplish. The two books must both meet the criteria for traveling the 70 miles.
- OR -
Two or more team members can 'buddy read' a book. The book must meet the criteria for traveling or the Supply Card for the Calamity. The one (1) book will counteract the Calamity and travel the necessary 70 miles.
Rules
You can't begin reading your book until Monday morning, 12:01 a.m. your time.
You must finish and report your book by Sunday night 11:59 p.m. your time.
Books must be 140 pages or more.
Audio books must be at least 3 hours long.
Graphic Novels must be at least 200 pages.

You received the Snake Bite Calamity Card.
"
By the way, I'll just it wasn't ME that received the snake bite of the team. 😒

This is Week 7 of your journey West to Oregon. You have reached Fort Factory. It's time to rest. You can read any book you choose that is at least 140 pages or more.
You also need to decide which two Supply Cards you might need for the remainder of your journey. No one needs to read the tasks for the Cards. Just let me know which Cards you picked in your Team's Completion Post.

Week 1 we read for Medicine, Spare Parts, Clean Water, Food - 4 earned
Week 2 we read for Clothes and USED Clothes
Week 3 we USED Medicine for a Broken Arm
Week 4 we EARNED another Medicine
Week 5 - we LOST Spare Parts card (due to thief)
Week 6 - someone (not me!) was bit by a snake. We USED a Medicine card.
So we have used medicine cards but should have one left and since calamities don't repeat, we shouldn't need one of those. We had read for 1 week one, used it week 3, got another Week 4.
One card we need thanks to the thief in Week 5 is SPARE PARTS
What second card should we request?
We don't have a clothes now --- BUT I think there was just one calamity needing clothes and we've already used it, BUT maybe something else can happen to it.
So maybe Spare Parts and Clothes?
We have the Food, Medicine, and Clean Water card left in our "bag"
We don't have medicine anymore, we used both the cards we had. Doesn't matter though since calamities don't repeat, we won't need it anymore.
For the same reason, we shouldn't need clothes again (I checked, there was indeed only one calamity it's needed for). Wouldn't it be smarter to double up on one of the ones we might still need instead, in case there's another thief incident or the like?

So Spare Parts (since we haven't used and we don't have) and....?? We have not used Food or Clean Water yet, have one of each.
Spare parts and... toss a coin? XD No way to predict which one we'll need or might lose somehow, so I guess we just pick one and keep our fingers crossed that we get lucky?

Week 8 - on the trail, Calamity happens
Week 9 - on the trail, Calamity happens
Week 10 - on the trail, arrive at Willamette Valley, Oregon
So we have two more calamities and very likely no more random theft I'm assuming.
So Spare Parts, and maybe water since it's such a necessity? Since we have already used the clothes calamity.

An unexpected occurance!

Members of a nearby Piute tribe of Native Americans arrive in your camp and demand a trade. They have (randomly) taken your Food and Spare Parts Supply Cards. But now you have buffalo skins, arrowheads, and moccasins :)
There's nothing you can do but continue on your journey West. Hopefully you won't need one of those Supply Cards before you reach the Willamette Valley.

We lost spare parts card, just got it back, now these b**tards steal it immediately
Too funny and sounds like my luck
And ugh on food. We had randomly requested a clean water card, oops, so two of those --- at least it takes longer to starve to death than it does to die of dehydration.

*lol* Figures. I can do two 70 miles books, no problem - just started one that should be done tomorrow and can easily fit a second one in. :) Can you (or one of the others) find something for the Spare Parts task?
