You received the Bad Water Calamity Card.
Hopefully you have the Supply Card that blocks this Calamity.
If you don't have the Supply Card, one team member will need to read the task to counteract the Calamity. You will miss out on the 70 miles that that team member's book would add to the total mileage for that Week.
A different team member can read two (2) books during the Week to make up the 70 miles that the person reading for the Supply Card will not accomplish. The two books must both meet the criteria for traveling the 70 miles.
- OR -
Two or more team members can 'buddy read' a book. The book must meet the criteria for traveling or the Supply Card for the Calamity. The one (1) book will counteract the Calamity and travel the necessary 70 miles.

How it Fits: N in OREGON
The last few weeks I've been thinking about the tasks I had planned for Week 10. It was just the same old tasks that you had done for almost the whole challenge.
It seems anticlimactic not to do something special to accomplish a great journey. So, I have adjusted the tasks.
I didn't want to surprise you with new tasks on Monday morning, so I have posted them in the Q &A thread. Here's a link to the post: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Now you'll have time to think about what you'd like to do.

You have two different ways to complete your journey. The options are:
1) - You can take the expensive and dangerous ferry on the Columbia River into the Valley. You will have dismantle your wagon so it will fit on the ferry. There is a 10-day wait for the ferry.
To do so, all members of the team will need to read a book that is tagged "Fairy", "Faery", or "Fairytale(s)".
- OR -
2) - You can take the almost completed Barlow Road over the heavily forested and rocky volcanic Mount Hood. This Pass is not suitable for wagons, so you will have to leave it behind.
To do so, each member of your team will need to read for one of The Barlow Road tasks. All four tasks must be read for.
The Barlow Road was built in 1846 by Sam Barlow and Philip Foster, and served as the last overland segment of the Oregon Trail.
a. Read a book with two numbers of 1846 in the book's publication date.
The Barlow Road begins at Wascopam Mission and heads south to Tygh Valley.
b. Read a book with all the letters of SOUTH in the author's name.
The road then turns west and roughly parallels the White River.
c. Read a book with a cover that is at least 50% white.

The road then follows the Sandy River for some way and finally leads into Oregon City.
d. Read a book set in a place that begins with an O or C.

This is Week 10 of your journey to Oregon. (You won't get a Calamity Card this week.)
I'm sorry to say this, but the last 70 miles of your journey is actually the most difficult. There is no easy way into the Willamette Valley. (Yet. The last part of the Oregon Trail won't be completed for another year or so.)
