For obviouis reasons I wouldn't mind seeing the Oilers win the Cup.

C. John Kerry (cjkerry) | 12638 comments Here's something Lance may find intersting. Rhino's album of the day was the second solo effort by Stevie Nicks.

I’ve disowned that team since April 15, 1993 - the day they vacated the Met Center in Bloomington, MN. Now my hockey teams are the Wild and the Panthers.

Ah, I didn’t know the score…was watching the big 3 auto races all day yesterday - Monaco GP, Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600. Indy 500 was the best of the 3

Since we dont pay for TV, Mike watched the recap of the Indy 500. I dont follow auto racing but it seemed like a lot of car problems & crashes. I did get a kick out of the Wienermobile race!

Recall at one point when I was working at Zellers we had an Assistant Manager who was a big NASCAR Fan. One of his Sundays to work always seemed to fall on the Daytona 500. He would get the Home Electronics department to put the race on the televisions and wheel in one of the carts we used for working and proceed to watch the race while working on the store maps.

I guess NOW I can mention the Frost - back to back Walter Cup champions. Won 2-1 on OT last night to sweep Ottawa but all 3 games were 2-1 and the last 2 were OT games. How come Minnesota’s professional women’s teams can win championships but the men can’t?

I know Vancouver is getting a franchise. I wish Chicago would get one. I know that girls hockey is huge there and has been for some time.

I admit I was a bit surprised that Chicago didn't have a team from the get go. I daresay that it will eventually.

C. John Kerry (cjkerry) | 12638 comments You may or may not have heard about this. Liverpool had a parade yesterday to celebrate Liverpool FC winning the Premier League title. During the parade someone driving an SUV crashed it into the crowd. There were a lot of injuries but fortunately no fatalities. A suspect has been arrested and the police, wisely, quickly stated that the man was white. They have also stated that this was not a terrorist incident.

C. John Kerry (cjkerry) | 12638 comments Someone likes puns. Reading my Brussells Playbook and came to a section on the EU and Hungary, which is a member country. Hungary has banned Pride celebrations, which is a no-no actually and the EU is trying to decide what action to take. The headline for this section is labelled Buda Pest Control, Budapest of course being the capital of Hungary.

C. John Kerry (cjkerry) | 12638 comments Bit of shocker in the world of Women's football. The Womens' Euros are coming up shorly, June or July not sure which. Mary Earps, England's goalkeeper, has announced that she is retiring from international football, effective immediately.

Checked off another item on the sports bucket list today. Went to the basketball hall of fame in Springfield, MA - only about 90 minutes from me, closer than Cooperstown. It was great - really enjoyed the time there. Much different that the baseball HoF and I liked that the basketball one has its own “personality.” I’ll definitely go there again. Lots of good items and information on the women’s game as well and enjoyed reading and seeing video of several of the female inductees, including my fellow Minnesota native Lindsey Whalen

C. John Kerry (cjkerry) | 12638 comments At one time in Toronto you could go to the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Sports Hall of Fame in one trip. The two were in the same building so you could just go through a door to get from one to the other.

C. John Kerry (cjkerry) | 12638 comments Had an interesting experince this morning. I went into the lab to get my A1C1 test this morning. This is a blood test I have every three months due to my diabetes. The young lady doing the test could not get any blood out of my right arm, or at least not enough. After three or four tries she switched arms and that worked. Never have had that happen before.

C. John Kerry (cjkerry) | 12638 comments Jordan, Uzbekistan and South Korea have all booked their places for the upcoming World Cup finals. China however will not be going, after losing 0-1 to Indonesia.
Also, one question that has arisen in the last few days is what if any of the countries Trump has banned from entering the US manages to qualify.

I’m liking the coverage of NASCAR races on Prime - mainly because there’s no annoying chatter from Jeff Burton (NBC) or Clint Boyer (Fox). Plus, their pre-race and stage break coverage with Danielle Trotta, Carl Edwards and Corey Lajoy is excellent. I’ll only be seeing them once more. Going to the race at Pocono in two weeks in person. When my bowling season ended, I won enough prize money to pay for a seat on the bus to the race. Same company that does the baseball trips I take - they do one or two races each year, too.

C. John Kerry (cjkerry) | 12638 comments Today (Sunday) is an intersting day in the church calender. Over here it is generally referred to as Pentecost but over in the UK it is Whitsun (or Whitsunday). It commemorates the day the Holy Spirit descended upon the gathered disciples and gave them the various spiritual gifts.
