Having a slightly hard time getting into it, already annoyed with the MC lol"
Yeah, the annoyance is real... I'm hoping that matures...
I just saw this old blog post from 2014, about Trent & Rachel's problematic relationship over the course of the series...
http://www.fangsforthefantasy.com/201...
It has 4 comments, including one by bamf, which mirrors my exact sentiments, that was posted 6-7 years ago...
I'm not sure if I wrote that comment 6-7 years ago, lol... the username bamf isn't one I normally use online, but IS the beginning of several characters I made in World of Warcraft over the years...
BAMF being the sound effect of Nightcrawler's teleporting in X-Men and the acronym for Bad Ass MFer (or, in my case Bad Ass M Fing P(aladin) / D(eath) K(night), etc...

So I managed to listen to the audiobook for 13/4 minutes before I ended up online, then watching random youtube videos?... that feels like a bad sign :D
We'll see if I have better luck later today... or else I might end up abandoning my re-read plans and just cheerlead this series...
The more I read random comments about the revival/etc, the less I want to put myself through re-reading the series that I know will annoy me most of the time...

I'm just gonna skip reading for now... maybe I'll suddenly decide to jump in without a re-read at some point, we'll see...

Wow, that's nuts, I didn't know there was even more hidden in the book. I don't have the patience to decipher lol

Hmm I'm not sure I should continue then... Seems like its too annoying to be worth it for me, especially since I'll have to prioritize soon. Ah well, maybe one day I'll read these ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hollows was one of my earliest Urban Fantasy reads, and I really started to struggle with it... I'd have never finished the original 13 book run if not for my shift to audio in 2014...
I toughed them out so hard in 2013, reading 11 of them... and I rated them 4/4/4, 4/4/3, 3/3/3, 2/2... I rated them at the end of the year, it was my first year using Goodreads and I quickly fell behind on ratings... I just said I read everything 12/29/13, and was going off memory/general vibes, so my ratings might be inaccurate, but I generally liked the early books when I trusted the author/relationship, then when everything started shifting to the new paradigm I keep mentioning in series spoiler tags, my ratings went downhill from books 6-9 and 10+... I finally abandoned after book 11, and revisited the series a year later in the Fall of 2014...
I rated the last 2 books 4 stars and 2 stars... (view spoiler) and I basically hated the finale like I'd hated the trajectory of the series in 2013...
I've been very vocal about this, but am trying to not color Nyssa & Nirkatze' enjoyment by my own disappointment...

It's also interesting to me which series I'm willing to retry, and which I'm apparently not, even when I try to retry... there's so many factors, and I almost feel like narrator matters more to me when I dislike the plot than otherwise...

The only really notable things she's reead is Hollows & Kitty Norville (series about a werewolf DJ, that was turned against her will, eventually outs the supernatural to the world, kills her maker and becomes alpha of a werewolf pack, and all sorts of other crazy stuff... I think by the end of the series she stops an apocalypse... I read that series pre-audio, tho they ARE on Audible Plus...
Marguerite Gavin is a narrator name that sounds familiar, tho, so I swear there must be something else, outside of SF/Fantasy/Mystery/Thriller that I've heard before (other than the fact I listened to Hollows 12-13 back in 2014 at 1x speed...

I'm actually gonna try the Kitty Norvilla audiobook off Audible Plus... see if it's as fun as I remember, or if Margeurite Gavin ruins it...
Paused on Stone of Farewell, and now I'm going off-script completely, apparently... I definitely know how to take wild swings, from 4 easy books one day to no 1 official BR and offscript the next...

Kitty Norville is definitely an easy listen, so it's the story not the narrator... if anything, the Kitty Norvilla narrative voice reminds me more of Sookie Stackhouse / southern / Louisiana...
I also think I think of this series alot, any time radio stations appear in UF/supernatural stories...

This reawakened something in me ;)
Book 2 opens with a caller that wants to be a were-alpaca because of these dreams he's been having about eating grass in South America :D

Otherwise, I am actually enjoying it 🙂

Going to jump into the next one right away. Trying to catch up 🙂

It's the definition of an experience book... really immerses you in the story, visually... but yea, even knowing how many puzzles and shenanigans are hidden in the text, I have little desire to ever revisit/re-read...
