Here! My mom ended up calling me for Tommy's whole nap so I wont be starting until later. I'm just rushing it because I've been holding up our Arrows challenge as well.
Well, I switched my cryptid book because I just wasn't feeling the Durreson, even though I usually like her a lot. I've been in a weird reading mood this break. I'm nearly done with Spindrift, which has a lifeboat sailor in it and then I'll start, probably tonight or tomorrow.I hope we both like it--I read it ages and ages ago, but I've liked the Johnson I've read since.
Same. At first I thought it was a different AM author that I can't remember the last name of who is very hit or miss for me so I'm glad it's this one
Since you've already read this one before, probably not going to do spoiler tags unless it's actually a spoiler...I don't know why but the first chapter definitely has me feeling like something bad is going to happen to Royal's family. The way they seem to be so close an intertwined just makes me think something has to come around and change that
Also, does Kai suck? Because it feels like he sucks.Edit: Okay, it seems like maybe there's more too him and he's going to end up being complicated and not sucky
AM Arthur? I accidentally read one of their books and didn't like it.I think Kai is better. I need to get reading! And no need to spoiler.
Yes! That's it. I actually liked them early on in my MM journey, but on a recent read realized that I have outgrown them. I'm still cruising along and very much enjoying it. I like how Royal is completely obsessed and also clueless as to why or what to do about it. Camden seems like he's very sad underneath everything.
I don't know if it explained Indie and their father's mental illness besides just them having it, but I'm wondering if it's going to be something Camden deals with as well
They've explained it now, and definitely not Camden. Still don't know exactly what's going on with him, but enough has been hinted that it seems like homophobic parents are the main culprit. I'm about 50% done. Might finish up in bed tonight, but I'll be back to chat when you're reading as well, no rush though! I've kept some notes so I can still jump in with how I'm feeling as you get there :)
I’m just getting started—I’d forgotten what babies they are! And there are ways the relationship between Royal and Cam parallel the MCs in Love Always, Wild before they get back together.
See! Kai is a good guy! I couldn’t remember how he reacted, but it was really nice that the first person (besides his twin) that Royal came out to was okay about it, especially given how old this book is, and how much homophobia is part of the story. I like that he’s warming up to Camden, too.
I’m about 35% in, and something’s gonna happen soon between the boys, I think.
Yes I definitely warmed up to Kai! I saw the next book is his too (and apparently all the parents have stories as well). If I ever get the MF itch I’ll have to check them out. I definitely see parallels to Love Always, Wild. I wonder if this one was at least a little bit of an inspiration for her
I read Kai and Indie’s book—I read this when I was still reading a fair amount of MF and liked it I might have even read it first? I’m not sure. I hate no lube books. It’s her first MM, but c’mon. Do some basic research. But they are so sweet and good together.
I honestly felt like the sex scene was a rush job in general. Not sure she felt comfortable in the MM sphere yet, I was listening but actually picked up my kindle to make sure I didn’t miss anything because it felt very disjointed. I don’t even care if a book has any steam at all, but it should make sense when there.
Oh, that was so sweet. It’s not the 4 stars I initially gave it, but it’s a nice story for sure. Thanks for reading it with me. I think it was fairly realistic for 2008 if not 2018 (I say as a college professor), but I’m always glad when coming out goes better than expected. And the friend group is really wonderful.

She gets much better, but the sex was pretty meh here, and the story didn’t need it.
Yes, I liked the friend group and was glad it extended out to at least some of the swim team. The awful one was always awful so that was to be expected.I gave 4 because GR doesn't do half stars, but 3.5 would probably be more accurate. Still, I thought it was very very sweet. A pretty good representation of a first love.
