- When signing up, please give us a number of books you are likely to read, NOT a range! If you have given us a range, we will change it.

- We have capped the maximum number of books at 30, but it doesn't mean that you cannot read more.
If you are a big reader and are likely to read more than 30 books/month, once you have been assigned to a team, you can discuss this with your captain and team.

Keri | 602 comments So excited for UNO to start!!!

📕 Hi I’m Keri
📕 I love Team Challenges!
📕 UNO is the first GR team challenge I ever participated in, and I have joined every year starting in 2018
📕 Favorite genres are Mystery/Thriller and Fantasy, but I also like many others and enjoy reading from a variety of genres

message 7: by Melindam (last edited Jan 02, 2025 12:00AM) (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments I'm Melinda and my 1st UNO challenge was back in 2017 when I joined as a reserve player and that was My Gateway to challenges (addiction).
This will be my 9th UNO in general and my 5th as one of the Mods. 😊

There has been some shifting in my favourite genres, nothing seismic, but formerly neglected genres are getting more reading time from me than before. I still love the Classics and Fantasy, but History, Biographies and Non-fiction in general are growing more prominent in my reading plans. :)

I'm willing to read most genres for challenges, the only exceptions are Horror and Thrillers. I'm avoiding those in general.

message 8: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Hi Keri and UNO organisers.
This is my umpteenth UNO. I read almost anything for these challenges but I’m a fan of crime , thrillers and historicals. Also been catching up with classics I haven’t read but should have eg I have The Iliad and and The Odyssey lined up. Good letters too!
A month out and I’m looking at my TBR pile with UNO in mind. Haha
Looking forward to meeting up with old team mates and new.

Jamie (TheRebelliousReader) (iambrucewayne) | 163 comments Hi! I'm Jamie. I'm from Texas and I'm obsessed with reading challenges! LOL. I've been participating in reading challenges both solo and team since about 2017 or so. This will be my first time participating in UNO but it looks like so much fun! My favorite genres are Romance, Paranormal, Horror, and Suspense.

message 10: by Louise (new)

Louise | 1282 comments Hi All. Ironically I was only thinking of UNO yesterday when trying to pick a book to relax in the bath with. First book I picked up was a YELLOW cover instant reaction was to save it for UNO. This will be my 10th year playing UNO having started back in 2016.
I normally captain or co-captain but this year I’m stepping down from those duties as I have a lot of ongoing RL pressures and need to take time to myself without adding any extra pressure onto myself.

I will read pretty much any genre not too keen on horror or space opera though.

Good catch on that yellow cover, Louise. 🤭

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 1505 comments Hi Everyone,

Can't wait for UNO 2025. This is my tenth year of playing.. I'm such an addict that through the year I collect colour covers in my TBR in preparation.

And I read anything for a challenge.. (especially space smut, LOL)

Looking forward to more reading fun this year!

message 13: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments Hello Everyone!

I think I’ve played every UNO? It was definitely my gateway game to the world of team challenges.

It’s still a favorite and I pile up certain cover colors over the year in anticipation.

I don’t stick to one genre and read lots of different things but I do read a lot of fantasy, mystery, and romance

message 14: by Keely (new)

Keely (kiwifruit192) | 569 comments Yay! I love UNO! I've played since 2020 and is one of the reasons I look forward to a new year.

I don't really collect coloured covers but I do usually think "that would work for UNO" if I read one for another challenge. Although I do have some saved in case.

I will usually read anything, especially for a challenge. I tend to enjoy fantasy and mystery books more, but other genres have surprised me.

message 15: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 1019 comments I'm signing up with less than I normally would this year, because I am actually trying to read less, and I might be moving house during UNO, so that'll slow me down too!

If I happen to read more I'll gladly pick and choose the books to use, and if team mates fall by the wayside, also happy to pick up the slack where I can. 😁

message 16: by Preeti (last edited Jan 02, 2025 05:08AM) (new)

Preeti (preetisunaina) | 480 comments Hi, all. I have been looking forward to this challenge. I have been taking part in this challenge since 2021.

Somewhere along the way I started dedicated shelves for each of the UNO cover colours.

Louise, I found a yellow cover as well and it reminded me that UNO was coming up.

I read pretty much anything though romance still isn't a big favourite. I am trying to read more non-fiction.

message 17: by LoriLovesBooks (new)

LoriLovesBooks Hi, everyone. My name is Lori. I’ve only done a few team challenges before. But only 1 similar to this in scale which was the last NBRC wheels challenge.

I read mostly mysteries and fantasy but I tend to read most genres. Not a fan of romance though.

📕 I've done UNO for many years now. I think I only missed the first year or two.
📕 Romance is what I read most, but I do like romantasy as well. I'm hoping to break into more fantasy this year.
📕 Not necessarily from 2024 but that I read in 2024 and loved:
Just for the Summer (Part of Your World, #3) by Abby Jimenez Next of Kin (Next, #1) by Hannah Bonam-Young Fangirl Down (Big Shots, #1) by Tessa Bailey Off the Beaten Path (The Mountains are Calling, #1) by Madison Wright Bride by Ali Hazelwood

📕 Have you joined UNO before? I have not missed any UNO challenges since I began. Not 100% sure how many I've played, but I can trace my UNO challenges back to at least 2019 so for sure I've played since then.
📕 Favourite genres: Historical fiction, mystery, thriller, psychological thriller, and the genres growing on me are fantasy, sports romance, a LITTLE nonfiction. I am still not in love with sci-fi and horror is hit and miss. I love some horror and others, such as zombie books, I try not to.

Andy joining for my 5th UNOversary

looking forward to the group fun, I still have not gotten the habit of stockpiling by cover colours, but mostly a library based reader so willing to wander the stacks in search of elusive yellows

my favourite genres, based on The 144 Most Read Books of the 2024 are:
⭐Fiction - 9 of 12 read
⭐Sci Fi - 9 of 12 read
⭐Historical Fiction - 8 of 12 read
⭐Fantasy - 8 of 12 read

my lowest genres are these, so if anyone is fan of these and wanted to recommend one book, I'd be very open to it
😿Mystery & Thriller - 1 of 12 read
😿Romantasy - 0 of 12 read
😿Romance - 0 of 12 read

What sub-genres do you prefer: Historical, suspense / mystery, contemporary drama, sci-fi, paranormal, clean, erotica, etc might help narrow down some recs.

📕 Team Challenge experience: Tons! It's always a fun experience and a real motivator to read when I sometimes (albeit rarely) get in a reading slump.
📕 Have you joined UNO before?: Yup! This'll be my third year playing!
📕 Favourite genres: Cozy mysteries, historical romances, mysteries, Gothic, and just romance in general!
📕 Books from 2024 you'd recommend or books you can't wait to read in 2025:
Hmm...there's a few from 2025. I'm actively adding to the shelf right now actually, so recommendations are appreciated. 2025 releases shelf

Lindsay | 43 comments This challenge sounds like a lot of fun! I typically only access GoodReads from my phone and there is a note in the info page that says this does not work well for the challenge. If that’s the case I shouldn’t sign up, but really want to……thoughts?
