I'm currently reading The Widows’ Guide to Murder, which is fun so far. I like the cast of characters.

I'm also reading Rules for Ruin. I've just started and it's been a little difficult for me to drop into the 1860's time period.

I've started Say You'll Remember Me, which I'm enjoying. I hope I don't mix it up with Rules for Ruin at all because they are both romance genre. I usually try not to read similar books at the same time. These have very different characters and settings so hopefully I'll be ok.

This book should've been called Suppression instead, my goodness! I understand it was the social norm of the time to be super reserved, but everything could've been resolved quicker if the two former lovers talked honestly to each other. Do NOT be fooled by the serious and somber cover, this book is so fun!! I was expecting a moody, classic 19th century whodunnit, which sure, it delivers that, but it also maintains an air of levity throughout, thanks to the cast of characters, who are like the Scooby gang if they existed in 1896. I just finished A Well-Trained Wife: My Escape from Christian Patriarchy for our group read. It was a great memoir. It was difficult to read at times and her struggles were not just church related, but also due to combining that with a husband with mental health issues. So glad she was able to get out of that situation before it was too late.

I just finished The Tainted Cup. I didn’t know what to expect from a fantasy mystery, but I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters in the book and how the mystery unraveled with a very satisfying ending. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I finished Chomp. It was much more serious than I expected it to be. There was some intended humor, but it was childish and there were also some heavy topics including child abuse, running away from home, assault with a gun, alcohol abuse, etc. I feel like if you’re ready for those heavy topics you probably won’t find the humor included very funny.

I'm now starting A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALS, and Dangerous Days at Sea.
