"Dropseed, the story of three sad women
Just seems to be underrated but I haven't loved a novel this deeply since Mrs Dalloway (and for me, that's saying something).
I just finished The Light Through the Leaves. Beautifully written story about how a tragedy changed the lives of so many people and how they dealt with it. I also loved her previous book, Where the Forest Meets the Stars.

Thank you for bringing The Light Through the Leaves to my attention again. I just realized that I own all 3 of Glendy Vanderah's books and haven't read any of them. I may have to read one soon!

I am currently reading Daughters of Shandong, and recently finished James (by Percival Everett), Supercommunicators (by Charles Duhigg), and Remarkably Bright Creatures (by Shelby Van Pelt), all of which I loved and recommend. James was the most interesting; a heartbreaking twist on the tale of Huckleberry Finn, but from the perspective of Jim, the slave.

Currently reading If the Shoe Fits and It's a Love Story. I usually try not to read two so similar books at the same time, but it just worked out that way this time.
Just finished The Wrong Daughter
by Dandy Smith Good Fast Paced Thriller. Here is my 4 ⭐️ Review if anyone is Interested. Think this one will be popular. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Strangely, following your post, Kristine, I am currently reading
The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas. It seems that there are a lot of wrong relatives around at the moment!
I finished It's a Love Story. Not my favorite book by Monaghan, but still pretty good.

This book isn't one of the Goodreads choice awards nominees, but i am currently reading The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell.
I finished Somewhere Beyond the Sea
for our group read today and I thought the book had some wonderful parts. Unfortunately, I found some parts felt a little too preachy. I thought the book really took off in the second half, but some of the ending felt repetitive from the first book.
I listened to the audio and I think that was a mistake. The narrator was overdramatic and it took away from the sentimentality of the story. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I read a physical copy. I ended up giving it 3.5 stars and rounding down due to the audio.

Just finished reading Dungeon Crawler Carl. And am now working on reading Babel, The House in the Cerulean Sea and Amazing Grace Adams.
I'm currently reading
and it's giving me
vibes. I pray it doesn't end the same way as TBE. I can definitely relate to being the darkest person in the family and in your school/work. If she doesn't stand up for herself soon I may have to DNF this book because there's no room for that nonsense these days. I'm also reading
. This was a local book club pick and I thought it was going to be very depressing but it's actually a beautiful, lyrical, very emotional read. The writer is fantastic and does not doubt what he's doing with specific scenes and words. The topic of institutional abuse is of course, very sensitive but that's the point. How long are we going to continue to let corporations, companies, churches/religious sects get away with the manipulation and abuse of humans? Great read and I'm not even finished with it.
How fun, John. I hope you enjoy it. I tried listening to audiobooks several times before I finally started to enjoy them. I love them now.
I haven't updated in almost 3 weeks and my reading has been a bit of a rollercoaster. I read Only the Beautiful for my book club and loved it. 4+★
I then read The House Children, which was good, but less engaging than I expected it to be. 3★
Next up was The God of the Woods, which I found to be an excellent mystery. 5★
Then The Last Murder at the End of the World, which was ok. It started off a little confusing and I thought the storyline was good, but it just never really drew me in. 3★
Finally, I just finished Great Big Beautiful Life, which I thought was great. 5★
I'm now listening to Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls and I'm about halfway through. I've seen the show, but didn't follow it. The memoir has been mostly fun so far.

I finished Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls. It was good, but it was kind of like listening to a person with ADHD tell a long story.
I just started Never Name the Dead.

I read Dogged Pursuit

my review of Dogged Pursuit
I'm now reading How the Penguins Saved Veronica and Run for the Hills.

I finished How the Penguins Saved Veronica. I thought it was pretty good, but the FMC was such a curmudgeon.
I'm now reading The Spellshop. The female MC in this one started out very standoffish as well.
