I tried to add in another edition with a different cover that is not appearing in the editions, but it didn't upload the cover.

Only librarians should be adding books by other authors. You added the book incorrectly, ASIN was missing and publication date was incorrect.
Submit a request at 'adding new books & editions' and a librarian will add the new edition in the correct manner.
