for those of you who have read books by leigh bardugo, would you recommend reading shadow and bone before six of crows, or would it be okay if you read six of crows first?

SObooks | 482 comments I read six of crows and it sucked. But I read it before shadow and bone soooooo but I hated it. There’s no romance and all the characters suck except one. I highly hate this book sooooo but if you want to read it read it you do you girl. But anyways I prob didn’t like it because I didn’t read shadow and bone first so yeah.

ashh ³³ ᵈᵘ ᵈᵘ ᵈᵘ (adiexe) omg six of crows is my favourite series!! love it sm, you definitely don't need to read shadow and bone first, but it makes a lot more sense when they mention different countries, politics and grisha etc. i'm personally not a big fan of the s&b plotline, so i'd suggest maybe reading the first shadow and bone book, continue it if you enjoy it, and if not you can skip to six of crows. it's really just a context that helps in the reading experience

ashh ³³ ᵈᵘ ᵈᵘ ᵈᵘ (adiexe) however i do want to say, the next series, king of scars, i love that series too like a lot, but if you want to continue on to that, you do have to read the entire shadow and bone series

Sonja | 115 comments Just my opinion....I would Wikipedia the "Shadow and Bone" trilogy to get the jest of things. It's not as good as "Six of Crows"...honestly it's written by two different authours because "Six of Crows" is soooo much better. The characters are way more interesting in addition to the storyline.

Sarah (adayinmymediocrelife) | 64 comments I was told that Six of Crows would make more sense if you read shadow and bone first, so that's what I did. I thought I was going to have to suffer through shadow and bone but I actually liked it more than I thought I would and Six of Crows was SO GOOD!! And I have a track record of not liking YA books but this was a 5 star read for me

Kristina | 300 comments I read SOC first, I don’t think it would change a lot if I had read SaB before it, but for me SoC is wayyyy better, it’s genius and it’s one of my favorites. I see the comments are divided and it probably depends on your preference, SaB is kinda mild, slower, more suitable for beginners, whereas SoC is ride or die. 😄 But nevertheless, make sure you read King of Scars as well, it wraps up everything. ❤️
