Who Wants to Live Forever by Hanna Thomas Uose
One of the most thought-provoking debuts I have read. Had the ending worked better for me, I'd have gone even higher in my rating.

Murder at Gulls Nest by Jess Kidd is a delightful murder mystery featuring an ex Irish nun searching for her missing friend in a run down seaside town, infused with Jess Kidd's gentle humour.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Who better to explore bipolar in a novel than neuroscientist, Lisa Genova. 5★s for More or Less Maddyhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth
This ambitious Rapunzel retelling is outstanding in historical research, but the writing choices and the gratuitous adult content didn't make me happy.

A Palace Near the Wind by Ai Jiang
A high-fantasy story that had so much potential but went too complex. I loved the allegorical theme, though.

Once Upon an Eid by various authors.
This is one exceptional OwnVoices anthology for middle-graders and teens, filled with Muslim experiences around Eid.

The Note by Alafair Burke is the tale of three women on a girls weekend away who get into trouble over a silly prank note. It didn't quite work for me even though I usually enjoy this author, but many other readers have rated it highly.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I am a fan of the compassionate, intelligent, Booker-winning Aussie author Richard Flanagan, so it's no surprise that I enjoyed his recent Question 7. He is a deeply insightful man who combines his historical research with moving prose. This goes from Aboriginal history to the atom bomb and beyond.
My review of Question 7
The Story of a Panic by E.M. Forster is another quirky tale I read, courtesy of the Goodreads Short Story Club. The stories are always worth a look, and my review has a link so you can read it online.
My review of The Story of a Panic
This book is definitely going to be the "big" trendy book this year. And it's a debut! Silver Elite by Dani Francis

The Fell, the 8th novel by Sarah Moss, is topical, evocative and moving, even moreso when narrated by Emma Lowndes. 5★shttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

A short dystopian fantasy. Written in typical Alix E. Harrow prose, this story ought to work well for those who like unusual short fiction.
