I love writing, and I pursue it more now than ever. I just have been writing other material, and that and other things drew me from time I would use for this group, even while I hoped to manage more time for it. But it was not working, and I ultimately was leaving comments as blog posts on Goodreads and that was it. My vulnerability changed things for me and then the COVID issue from which I saw great risk to me really did, that my focus was changing then too. I see others in the group had some reason that kept them from this too. So maybe, with no competition but open submissions possible, I might just share freely written material from me, yet.

Fred, I admire your passion for writing. You have kept at what you love more than the rest of the group. I hope my love for writing will rekindle in the coming months. Yes, covid, getting old and achy, and my job has changed things for me. We can only look ahead with a positive attitude and hold the torch for what we want to pursue.

I am so excited to find this group is still around. I know I have been gone for a very long time and only a few of you may even remember me being in this group. It has been a very LONG and treacherous few years and unfortunately my writing was shelved because of it.
The time has come to dust off the shelves and get back in the saddle.
From the sounds of the last two posts I was not alone. It is sad to see we drifted away from a passion we all shared. I was deeply saddened when I found out that Randell passed away. However , it also motivated me to reach out and connect with my writing pals again.
Before I jump back in it looks like I need a crash course on how things are working now. Anyone willing to bring me up to speed?
Lynette, I think we practice and share what we might of our creative writing and storytelling, for now it is without any competition other than our own from what we see. Welcome here, and share anything you will. Do you want help for opening a thread?
Lynette, thanks for posting. No, I didn't know that Randall had passed away. I think he stopped writing because of personal physical issues. Speaking of which I am currently experiencing neuropathy so bad that it is difficult to sleep because of hot-stinging-nunbness in my legs and feet. The hubby was "preaching" at me this morning about cutting out sugar, exercising, and losing weight. It's a little too soon for me to retire, but it isn't far away. But back to the subject of writing. Do you think we should start up monthly story writing or quarterly writing?
Oh my gosh. I didn’t know Randall is no longer with us.
So glad to see that you’re here Lynette.

Glenda, I think monthly writing is a good idea. It doesn’t mean every single person will post every month but at least it maintains consistency.
Sorry you haven’t been feeling great. I’ll pray for you and hope you’re better soon.
You have been this group’s cornerstone.

Sharon Willet responded to my idea of doing quarterly writing stories. The last group writing challenge was done for January 2024, and no one responded. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I made a list of writers in this group who participated in 2023 & who may be interested in participating again:
Mirta Oliva
Glenda Reynolds
Lena Pate
Rejoice
Sharon Willet
Gene Hilgreen
Fred F
Arthur Chappell
Patricia Lovett
They can be messaged directly. So which would be better, monthly or quarterly writing challenges? Do we vote or not vote? Who will be the first one to post a writing challenge?
I messaged all members just now. It would be nice to spark some interest in writing for an anthology. If we knew someone like Shae who could gather our stories & publish them, or if we knew someone who was collecting stories for an anthology. Just a thought.

I do not think I will start anything for any of it, but I will follow any leading. Some project with this group would be doing some good.
I posted a writing challenge for June and also my story for June at this link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... While on Facebook, I tagged a few writers. I was editing the post to include my cousin Brooke, when all of the sudden Facebook closed my account, accusing me of advertising. I immediately appealed. That has happened to other friends, but they were always very outspoken about political things. I was minding my own business, sharing a post for others to know about and participate in writing. We'll see how this goes.
