I've been 'reading' a lot of cookbooks from the library about how to enjoy beans. I mean, I've loved 'em for years and know that they're basically a miracle food, but I think my family is getting tired of 'em.I also read a new chapter book by Atinuke, one of my very favorite authors for children. I gave it five stars. Beti and the Little Round House.
The only book that is remotely related to the topic of this group is Naming Nature: The Clash Between Instinct and Science, which is an excellent companion to Why Fish Don’t Exist: A Story of Loss, Love, and the Hidden Order of Life.
I hope to get around to a reread of the classic SF story War with the Newts, by Karel Čapek. It's a terrific satire and social commentary that I enjoyed a few years ago and is now being read by the group Speculative Fiction in Translation.
This time of year I fall down a cozy mystery rabbit hole. I will start Hide in Time by Anna Faversham this week.

I really enjoyed Hide in Time by Anna Faversham. I then tackled Ministry of Time which was okay but not my favorite time travel novel. Both had romance and time travel manipulation. Hide in Time handled the time travel rules really well and was a joy to read. Ministry of Time had some good ideas but didn't invoke the same reader engagement for me. Glad I read both but I appreciated Hide in Time much more than Ministry of Time.
I find it so interesting that books can have much in common, but still not "invoke the same reader engagement" as you so insightfully phrase it. Thank you for giving me a thought to chew on.
I've been disappointed by too much this month, sorry to not have more to report. I will tell you fans The Phantom Tollbooth that you probably don't want to bother with the Annotated version. (see my review)
