Donna (dkflynn33) | 520 comments I updated the spreadsheet. We can start the next set of tasks.

Lexi | 734 comments Thank you, Donna

Lexi | 734 comments I have a Beowulf in title book so Teddie or Donna feel free to claim one of my other tasks and I’ll switch as that seems harder.

Michelle's Empty Nest (mlundy5) | 13 comments I have some unfortunate news. I've been having episodes where I blackout and I actually ended up in the ER with a busted head from one of the latest times. This has brought on a whole slew of appointments which just seem to be leading to more and more follow-ups and new specialists. I just don't think I can allot the time needed to continue on with this challenge. I feel it would be best to drop out at this time. I apologize for letting the team down.

Ashley Basile (smashreads) | 916 comments Michelle, no worries at all!

Donna (dkflynn33) | 520 comments Michelle, you haven't let us down at all. Your health comes first. Take care of yourself. We will figure it out.

message 107: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 1011 comments Oh man Michelle - please take care! I hope they figure things out and get you a treatment soon :)

I totally misread this earlier - I'm switching now - thanks Lexi!

Lexi | 734 comments Sorry, Michelle, take care of yourself first, and I hope doctors figure out what happens soon.

message 110: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 734 comments If anyone has a collection of short stories finished since May 10, we now have an open task. Otherwise, it is up for anyone to grab.

message 111: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 734 comments I finished a collection of short stories so Teddie, whenever you are done, we can move on to the next group

message 112: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 734 comments Teddie, just wanted to check in since it has been a month. I have a book with an editor if you want to move The Silmarillion to after death and then we can be done with this round.

message 113: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 1011 comments I'm really sorry for the delay - I didn't do a great job juggling book tasks this month!

I'm reading Children of Hurin now, but please move The Silmarillion and fill in your book - I'm sure the Hurin book will work for something in the next group.

Thanks Lexi!

Lexi | 734 comments TTs has made it harder on my part as well but also has increased my short story reading which has been oddly helpful.

message 115: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 1011 comments I'm loving reading some longer books for TT, but between that and book quest, and making sure those align with my Solar month tasks - well, I need to do better next month :)

message 116: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 734 comments If anyone is reading Murder in Mesopotamia for TT's for Iraq, it was published in 1936. My team has already read Iraq twice or I'd volunteer.

Lexi | 734 comments Also, does anyone know what "Book by an author with at least 2 Christian names" means? It is a double first name like Mary Ann or anyone with two names on GRs even if one may be a middle name?

Ashley Basile (smashreads) | 916 comments Lexi wrote: "Also, does anyone know what "Book by an author with at least 2 Christian names" means? It is a double first name like Mary Ann or anyone with two names on GRs even if one may be a middle name?"

I googled this when I first saw it and got this:

One example of an author with at least two Christian names is C. S. Lewis. His full name was Clive Staples Lewis. He used the initials "C. S." for his published works, but his first two names, Clive and Staples, are considered Christian names, as they are derived from traditional English names with religious associations. Clive is a surname sometimes associated with Christianity, and Staples is a less common Christian name. He also used other pseudonyms like Clive Hamilton and N.W. Clerk.
Other authors with multiple Christian names could include those who traditionally wrote books of the New Testament, like Matthew and Luke, who are attributed to the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke respectively. Some scholars also note the existence of dual-names in the New Testament, like Saul/Paul or Matthew/Levi, further illustrating the presence of multiple potentially Christian names associated with authors.
However, it's worth noting that the term "Christian name" typically refers to the first name given to someone at baptism. Therefore, an author named Joseph Conrad, whose full name is Józef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski, could also be considered to have at least two Christian names, as Józef and Konrad are traditional Christian names.

Teddie (teddieg) | 1011 comments I have The Forgetting Moon by Brian Lee Durfee, so I can take that one.

message 120: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 1011 comments Hi all! Hope you all are having a fun summer and staying cool - temperature cool vs cool cool, which you all are regardless of the weather. :)

I finished The Forgetting Moon for the 2 first names task, but it could also work for the pub/inn task (pub called The Filthy Horse is a setting) if anyone wants to move things around.

message 121: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Basile (smashreads) | 916 comments I added my read dates (totally forgot) and added a book that features a pub/inn.

Donna, I saw you read Kindred, it would work for MPG History or Historical Fiction that you had The Fallen Fruit in!

Does anyone have a book first published between 1930-1949?

message 122: by Donna (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 520 comments Up to you guys. I’m reading that book this month too.

message 123: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 1011 comments We completed The Inklings and are on to Tolkien's Creatures!

Ashley Basile (smashreads) | 916 comments Oh I'm glad you said something Teddie! I keep forgetting to check in N

message 125: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 734 comments I have just been claiming words as they come up. Please feel free to bump me from a spot if you want it.

Teddie (teddieg) | 1011 comments woohoo - came across a halfling in my current book. :)
