I am close to completing 4 more buffet categories! The lagging ones are challenge 4 (short stories) and 12 (fiction/nonfiction).
Thanks, Wobbley. I am accomplishing a lot for the Buffet but I would say that it has been a mixed year in terms of my reading. I rarely DNF a book, but I did that with Humboldt’s Gift. There have been a lot of 3 - 4 stars books, but also some 5s. I’m almost finished with Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, meta fiction with too many seemingly unrelated characters and plot lines, which has been a stinker to read.
I know what you mean about Cloud Atlas, Terry. I found a couple of the stories compelling, but I didn't enjoy the rest of it. It's a very uneven book, and I feel like its fame is mainly due to its unusual structure.
For the last book for Challenge 11, Future Classics, I chose to read Cloud Atlas. I chose it because I thought maybe it was controversial in its structure. It was. But It was not a book for me, unfortunately. I gave it 2 stars. The good news is that it completed Challenge 11!
I barely dipped my toe in before I knew it would not be a book for me, Terry. I took it off the TBR. Glad it served a purpose and got the challenge completed!
