In book eight of A Series of Unfortunate Events, the Beaudelaire siblings have been accused of murdering Count Olaf. They discover a half-finished hospital with staffed by a group of Volunteers Fighting Disease. Could this be the VFD they have been searching for? Several villains from the previous books make an appearance. One of the children is in mortal peril and the other two must figure out what to do. This is a dark book, but we have been warned not to pick it up if we are looking for something cheery. We learn more about the machinations of evil Count Olaf. I am enjoying this series in audiobook format. They are brilliantly read by Tim Curry.
