She's not very familiar with masculinity, as she grew up relatively sheltered, raised by an all-female group. Some see her as naive because of this.
History: When Des was little, her older sister graduated from the academy. Des's grandmother and guardian decided that instead of sending her granddaughter to a regular school, where she would almost certainly be bullied and chased out, the safest option was to send her to the academy. Des has never met her mother, nor her father, but was quite content with the community she grew up with- her sister, her grandmothers, and two aunts.

The two closest to her face are the most talkative, and she can almost always be found having a conversation with them. Her ears are slightly pointed, and her nose is small.
Personality: Lucy is very talkative, but only once she gets to know you. She always says that there has to be a certain degree of both trust and caution whenever you are friends with her, because you have to trust her not to turn you to stone, and you have to be careful that you don't catch her without her glasses. She's very kind, and absolutely adores animals.
History: Lucy's past has a dark start. When she was younger, her parents gave her up for adoption, because she had never opened her eyes and they didn't want to pay hospital bills to find out why. But, when she arrived to the orphanage, she did end up opening her eyes, and turning the caretaker to stone. After quite a few new statues had been created, someone managed to tie a cloth around her eyes. She stayed this way until she was adopted by a sorcerer, of whom she still doesn't know the name of, and he created her glasses for her. After Lucy started wearing her glasses, the sorcerer gave her to a regular family, and there she was raised, homeschooled, and taught to behave until her freshman year, when her family received a letter inviting her to the MC Academy. She has gone to the academy every school year since.

But since she wasn’t experiencing symptoms of anything major, she wrote it off. A few days later when she woke up, she noticed that her tan skin had a pale under glow to it and she had vampire teeth. She was a vampire. Her parents sent her to the Academy for Mythical Creatures for ‘safety’ even though she knew that wasn’t true.

HISTORY
Iona was born to the rhythm of waves crashing against the rocky shoreline of northern Scotland as a seal pup to a selkie mother and human father. Her parents cherished her, as they had believed that they would never be able to have children. They showered her in love and affection, veering on overbearing and overprotective at times. They were afraid of the ridicule she would face around normal humans, as she couldn't control her transformations in her early childhood. Spending more time in the ocean than in the little town nearby her home, Iona found that she preferred the company of seals to humans. They were just easier to understand, and she didn't have to wear itchy and uncomfortable clothes around them. Iona's parents were also happy with this arrangement, as long as she kept up with her homeschooling and was home before dark. For the first 12 years of Iona's life, things were good.

Then her mother got sick.

Things were much harder after that. The joy and laughter was sapped from her home, and even the seals seemed to know that something was different. Iona's father grew distant, struggling to look at a face that resembled his dearly departed wife. When Iona was 14, he heard word of a school for other children like Iona, and he jumped at the chance to get her away, to get rid of every reminder of his wife.

Now Iona is trapped far from home, far from her true family. She is doing her best to make friends with the other mythical children, but people were never her strong suit. She mostly keeps to herself with the sound of the ocean always in her ears.


PERSONALITY
If you asked the seals, they would tell you that Iona is very kind, in a life-of-the-party kind of way. She always knew the best games, and she was great at cheering up a sad friend. Things are different for Iona out of the ocean. She never knows what to say, so she typically says nothing for fear of saying something hurtful. Most of her jokes aren't as funny in the human tongue, anyway. When Iona does speak, it's always brash and straight to the point. She doesn't understand the human custom of not always saying exactly what you mean, so she is honest to a fault. Iona believes that she is a kind, good person, but she is often not perceived that way. Just don't try to steal her coat and you won't have any problems with her.

History: (This is not true about Ushi-Onis, I made this up for roleplay purposes.) Yūrei was born an Ushi-Oni, but he had realized something was special about him as he got older. He could turn into a human. He didn't understand why at first, as none of the others of his kind could do so. So he decided to keep this a secret for himself. He had told nobody else. He eventually was allowed to go out into the world alone, as Ushi-Oni rely on humans for food and if they do not learn how to hunt for themselves, they are considered unworthy of being one and are killed by their own kind. Yūrei knew he had to learn how to hunt, so he confronted his parents for some advice. They told him to "never give up, even if you're on the brink of death and are unsure of what to do". Yūrei listened to their advice and he has gone by that motto ever since. He eventually found a letter to the Academy For Mythical Creatures, unsure of what to think of it at first. He asked his parents about it, they replied with "It was for your own good". He agreed to go there only if he didnt share a dorm with anybody there.

Type: shockingly enough, she prefers dark people in the sense that they have a dark aesthetic. She likes it when they are strong, brave, and outgoing. History: She was born in the pine forests of a forgotten mountain range, then quickly abandoned. Her parents saw her "disgusting" features and left her. She was rescued by her own kind later. People who looked like her...long, winding horns and large wings that trailed on the ground. The Dark Fey saved her then brought them to their hiding spot deep in the woods. It was there where she learned everything she knew. She always had a fond liking and a talent for caring for the forest. The other Fey were training to be warriors, while she was setting herself up to be delicate and weak. This shy nature set her up to be bullied until she was truly traumatized. An attack from the other Fey led to her receiving a scar on her forearm from when they took her in the middle of the night and tied her to a tree. They pranced around her with fire, taunting her with cruel names and calling her a witch. They burned her arm, but she escaped and ran for days until she came across the academy.

How they got their power: She was born with an affinity for the forest. She knows how to communicate with animals. She knows the best way to blend in with the leaves and the shadows of the trees. She knows just where to place her feet so that not a sound is made.

Lore: Her powers used to work mostly through her love of the forest. Whenever she used her powers, the magic would glow deep green. After she was tortured by the other dark fey, she will sometimes struggle with nightmares and flashbacks that make her lose control. The results are completely unpredictable.

"No... the holder is the only one who can play", his mother said scared but with a warm tone. Sweat dropplets rolled down Jael's face. He stood up and started playing... Although it was a pretty melody, it wasn't enough... Jael ran away from the dead body's of his mother and sister with his father. "you are a disgrace", the father muttered under his breath. History: Born to a large family of pixies. She was raised in a dull, hidden spot in a river valley wedged between two towering mountains. She tried her entire childhood to fly above the mountains. When she failed, she tried to grow more flowers and trees to make the valley more exciting. Nothing ever satisfied her.

History: Karipos was born in modern Greece, given a name of the ancient times. By the time he was 3, something dragged him down into the underworld as he was playing in a nearby river. During his time in the underworld before he transformed (2 years), he was tortured and starved. When he was 5, he finally transformed, because what food they gave him was laced with something... After struggling to escape he finally turned back for a short period of time and made it back to the overworld when he was 14, he spent one year in the wild, not knowing where he had been transported, it was, of course, the USA, he eventually found the school right before he transformed again into the three headed hellhound. and they accepted him in, even though he killed multiple people on his way here.

Puck, as he likes to be called, is the result of the marriage of a miko, a human spiritual medium, and faerie. As such, he has inherited a somewhat equal spread of their abilities, though he doesn't have full access to all of them. One of his greatest hindrances in inheriting his mother's position is that he cannot see spirits, which is fairly important in her line of work, though he has a general sense of them.

[ PERSONALITY > Puck turned a lot more like his father than his mother expected. He's a natural born prankster, with an air about him that most people would say reminds them of an older sibling. He thinks that works out just as well; it's not like he wouldn't be there for the people he cares about. He's fun-loving and energetic, probably from his very strong caffeine addiction. Anyone who knows him swears he chugs it like it's water, which really isn't all that healthy. But while all these things make him a great person to be around...he can also be exceedingly nosey.

He supposes it has something to do with the fact that he's so used to spirits speaking to him constantly. While he's unable to actually see any of them, it doesn't mean they can't see him. Puck's grown used to having people tell him anything and everything on their mind, and it's not uncommon for him to end up having several conversations at once with the living and the dead.

If there's one thing that Puck excels at most, it is procrastination. He tends to push things off to the last minute, usually flustered by it and somehow it works out. This isn't just limited to his schoolwork; his interactions with others and getting ready for activities can be pushed back for as much as he can manage. Puck isn't all that great with speaking on his own emotions, so heart-to-hearts, where he happens to be the focus, are usually brushed off or delayed until they're inevitable. Because of this, most people find it hard to really connect with him, or see him more as a source for venting rather than them being on mutual standing in those regards.

[ HISTORY > Puck learned early on that he was different. His father, a man that went on inexplicably long "business trips", was a distant figure that he never quite understood from an early age. He had his mother and grandmother, and the monks and other miko she worked with. To him, that was all the family he needed, but there was always something a little different. At the age of six, this difference was first made clear when he said someone's name aloud.

Faeries have always been...interesting when it comes to names. Puck was no different. The moment he'd said a miko's name — her given name and not her title or a babyish nickname he might have contrived for her — she had fallen into something of a stupor. A lull in her consciousness that made her susceptible to doing anything that he'd asked her. And every request would be taken quite literally. While it was a request as harmless as their usual horse-riding game, he was still dumbstruck by how literally she had taken it. What was closer to a piggyback ride turned into her full-on behaving like a horse. It was only until he'd told her to stop that his mother had arrived to fix the situation. The distant father returned for a spell to explain his heritage to him in as simple terms as he could. From then on, Puck had learned to never use someone's true name. Nicknames were deemed safest, even for him.

Following this, his father would remain distant, but visit much more frequently. Puck lived with his mother at the shrine where she worked, and it was here that he became enamored with the spiritual arts she practiced. While he was a bit of a mischievous child, he found a certain kind of peace in being able to speak to the spirits that might have lingered in the halls. As the shrine was continuously purified, he never had any exposure to anything negative. Most of the spirits he spoke with were passing through or seeking aide in getting to the afterlife. Kind people who had lost their way. He'd watched his mother guide them, cleanse them. Puck never once questioned any of this as being out of the ordinary.

When he was ten, the shrine hit hard times. While his education had been predominantly carried out at the shrine, the things that they needed for it were become harder and harder to find at better prices. His mother made the decision to send him to a local elementary school. Puck fought this decision, throwing tantrums. The facade of being a big kid — the kind that could assist his mother in her work around the shrine — dropped in favor of trying to stay with her. He'd gone so far as shaving his head to make an official declaration that he would be a monk. But this did nothing and he was sent to school with human children.

This was the first time that Puck would be exposed to the negative energies and spirits of the world. He knew, on some level, that these things existed. It was just — he had never encountered them. For a good while, he found it hard to fit in with the other students. Mostly in that he struggled to ignore that chill down his spine and the sudden fear of entering certain spaces. He was dubbed as odd, citing the way he would freeze in doorways and the terror that would take his expression.

It took him a long while, and a visit from his mother to the school, to get truly settled. He went through the process of cleansing every room in the school with her. The painstaking, exactness of it all left him feeling shameful. His classmates, who had seen him as an odd duck, weren't ostracizing him, but they did take an interest in him for the things they were realizing he could sense. He would grow to become friends with them all, though it was mostly them asking him to places to see if it might be haunted.

When he was fourteen, his mother was hired for an exorcism. Another side duty that wasn't often done when he was younger, but with Puck coming of age, she had taken on more work. His mother decided to take him with him this once. In part, she wanted to see if he would be able to see the spirits, as they were supposedly strong ones. Her own spiritual prowess wasn't enough, and she was joined by several other miko from various shrines in the region.

It was — a disaster would be putting it lightly. The spirits had been strong, and morphed together into the beginnings of a demon stronger than they had anticipated. While his mother had been strong herself, the other miko had not been. Some had not even had any sort of spiritual ability to begin with, hired under the pretense that they were professionals and not scam artists by a desperate mother. Puck's mother had tried her best to protect everyone, and she paid the price for it. While the demon had been subdued, it was trapped in her body and she was taken back to the shrine.

News of this traveled fast. Faster still to his father, who even in his absent nature had truly loved his wife. He had known their lifespans would be different, but he had not thought that this would be the way she was taken from him. Puck was taken to his father; agreed upon because they couldn't stand the thought of leaving him exposed to his mother and the demon within her. He spent a year with his father before both of them felt the restless stirring.

Puck learned, in this time, where his own nickname had come from. Taken from his father, who had also given him his first name as a way to always still connected. The faerie explained that he had felt every time his name had been called, and while he might not have always been present, he'd cared. Which, Puck wasn't sure he really believed, but the sentiment was nice.

Puck, though, wanted to be stronger. That was the problem with his restlessness; the shrine had afforded him much to learn and constant means of practice. The only reason he survived that night of the exorcism, they'd said, was because his shield had been so exceptional. His father noticed this restlessness, and with a smile, had told him they should talk. It was then that he learned of the academy and was told he could enroll if he wanted to. In his time with his father, he'd seen a lot of things. People, places; his father was not one to remain in one place for too long and as such was a bit of a wanderer. It just so happened that Puck had been taken along for the ride.

This was how it came to be that Puck, on the edge of his sixteenth birthday, would be enrolled in the academy. His father dropped him off at the front gates, and promised to visit often. Taking this at face value — and he did visit, quite literally dropping by at the worst times over the years — Puck walked through the gates to begin his school life at the academy.

POWERS : as a banshee, Anja is gifted with several abilities that concern death, and undeath. Chief among them are her death sense and prediction, where she is able to sense when a death occurs as well as predict an individual's demise. She also has a sonic scream that she can manipulate the frequency and power of as an offensive, defensive, and predictive (as per her screams of death).

ANJA is just like any other girl. Spirited — never mind the ghosts she might speak to on occasion — and vivacious, she's full of life. She can be sociable enough when she wants to be, even if she might happen to know when everyone around her is going to die. At least she can plan the funeral in advance, right? Her general affect of somewhat positive energy can be a bit offputting for someone that knows of her species, or happens to hold the classic stereotyping toward her. She's not one to stay within the mold of her kind, and is known to hang around with those outside of the undead spheres of existence.

If anyone were to ask, there would be a general consensus that Anja has a certain flair for the dramatic. They would also say that this was why the choir passed her off to the drama club — and not at all because a single high c from her could turn brains to mush. Totally not that. Her ability to be expressive has allowed for many a spectacular performance, and the boom of her voice ensures that not a single line is missed by any member of the audience. While she might not have the silky tones of a siren, she's not one to be easily missed in any venue with the way her voice projects. And also isn't all that great at whispering, but that's what passing notes is for.

Despite all of this energy and rowdiness, Anja does have her moments of being particularly moody. While on a certain level she is used to it, there is always this overwhelming sense of grief that comes with her being. A single tingle of death sense has her begin to bawl, and she is mostly inconsolable in this time as she feels the last moments of someone she may or may not know. Overall, these moods can put a damper on any situation and she usually excuses herself when they occur. Anja tends to ignore the confusion when she returns as if nothing has happened.



HER FIRST experience of the world was grief. A burdening sorrow that had the young banshee screaming in the hospital room she'd been born in. Her parents, immune to the screams as they were, watched with a knowing horror as the hospital staff collapsed and glass shattered. As soon as her mother was able — they fled. A hospital is no place for a banshee, after all. Anja would be tucked into a little basket, swaddled in blankets when they'd gotten far enough away that she wouldn't pick up on the deaths that had resulted from her own screams, as her parents ran back toward the hills from whence they came.

In myth, a banshee will always remain tied to a family. The Kovalyov clan had long since evaded such a fate, outliving the family for which they were tied to. It had been her grandfather that had bellowed to toll the last death before he moved the family over to Germany from their Russian abode. She was six when they attempted a move from the rural confines they had restricted themselves to, into the city.

Let's just say it didn't go well for any of them.

Driven out by the madness they wrought and the madness they were assumed to possess, the Kovalyov clan came to the decision that they would remain on the outskirts of civilization as they had always done. Several mistakes were made with this decision, as a sickness swept through the rural village they lived in and decimated a percentage of the population. Their mourning was long, bitter, and loud. In places like these, superstitions had a steady hold on the villagers, and thus the Kovalyov clan was faced with yet another problem, especially as Anja and her older brothers began to mature in their powers.

While the villagers had adjusted, there was still this need of isolation. No one truly likes hearing bad news, and Anja's family was the bearer of the worst kind. One by one, her brothers were sent off to academies globally that would allow for them to have better control. With the eldest sons out of the way, it left Anja and her youngest older brother in the care of their aging and tired parents. It was at her suggestion to be sent off next at fifteen that seemed to breathe life into her parents, as they realized they would not — at the very least — need to worry about their daughter taking the initiative.

Personality: She is very quiet and withdrawn, but gets angry very easily. She has a strong sense of morality (that has absolutely nothing to do with legality, quite the opposite in fact) and will stand up for herself. History: She grew up with her mother, who believes herself a witch, but she never had any true power. The unknowing mother had a child with an enchanter masquerading as a regular human. Aeyrene is that child, and displays the powers her mother always wished she had. Her mother moved Aeyrene around often as a child, sometimes shuffling her off to people her mother claimed were relatives, but later could not explain a single thing about them. Frequently, when her mother failed experiments, Aeyrene would be drugged and tied up as her mother tried to force magic out of her. She escaped to the academy to try and escape her mother’s reach.

Personality: Megan is very book smart and her mind is hardwired for robotics, math, and engineering. She isn't an outwardly friendly or sweet person, but she's polite and tries to be nice to new people. Megan has trust issues concerning friends and doesn't go out of her way to make them, plus she finds people unpredictable and annoying, unlike the robots she loves to design. While Megan is polite to the people she is forced to talk to, she is anti-social and has social anxiety, a wonderful combination that forces her to avoid interacting with people as much as possible. Megan also tends to be quiet when in class during school hours and pretends the other kids aren't there. She sometimes has flashbacks to when she went to regular public school with are followed by panic attacks and the inability to breath normally. So, all in all, Megan is nice and polite to others on the outside, but dislikes them on the inside. She also dislikes herself on the inside. Self doubt and low self esteem make sure of that.

History: Megan discovered she was half fairy when she was fourteen.
It was super exciting at first, but then the drawbacks started showing up.
She couldn't sit comfortablly, her clothes had to all be altered, her small powers were unpredictable, and now Megan was different from everyone else.
Which she hated.
She hated it because it gave other people an excuse to pick on her. Her school days were plagued with bullying and fights, most of which she lost, since she wasn't much of a fighter. Her body was always constantly covered with bruises and once during a very heated fight the buly broke her nose, which resulted in a hospital trip. Megan was finally fed up with it and requested to be sent to the MC Academy, which her parents complied with. On her last day of school however things got crazy and Megan ended up locked inside a locker for two hours after being forced to run away from the jerks who were hurting her, and caused her to trip and break her ankle. Megan now is now claustrophobic from the event and has a scar from the surgery on her ankle.

This Group AU History: Beverly (while sharing most of the history above) recently discovered that she was part mermaid when one day swimming with the boys in the old quarry where they would sometimes hang out. She secretly enrolled at MC Academy to better understand her Mythical Creature part and to learn how to deal with and control it better.
Her father has no idea of her abilities and is unaware that she is attending the academy.

History: Maddie was born a seemingly normal child, but this was proven false when she turned ten and dropped a tea cup, which somehow triggered something inside her and a prophecy fell out of her mouth.

Personality: Chihiro is a very kind, optimistic, and honest individual. She always encourages others to be hopeful and follow their dreams, and she sweetly helps others through their troubles. History: Chihiro was born a normal child, but when she was still a little girl she got into her father's potion cabinet [he was a wizard] and swallowed a concoction of phoenix tears and unicorn blood. Her parents rushed to her as she began screaming in pain. saying she felt like her insides were on fire. Chihiro's father instantly knew what had happened and forced a small mix of lavender and calendula down her throat.
It helped her, but there were after affects....
During the rest of the week Chihiro discovered her newfound abilities.
She couldn't not be burned by fire and her tears were able to heal even the worst of wounds. If her tears were ingested they could heal poisoning.
One day, Chihiro fell out of a very tall tree and cracked her skull when she hit the ground. As she bled to death her body began to prickle like it was being touched by flame. She shut her eyes and felt herself crumble away to ash.
The next day, Chihiro awoke, whole and healthy.
She could rise from her own ashes.
Her parents sent her to the Academy so she could learn more about herself.

History: Nya's parents abandoned her and her brother Kai when she was seven years old and he was ten for reasons she still doesn't know. Kai acted in the place of their parents and raised Nya as best he could, which wasn't easy, but helped the siblings form a very special bond that no one could break. The two took over their parents business of making saddles for nearby ranches, with Kai making the actual saddles and Nya helping to keep track of their accounts. Nya discovered she was part Kelpie when she fell into the river near their home one day and thought she was drowing. Her body took over in her panic and she managed to change form with a single thought. After that she learned of her ability to control small amounta of water on land as long as she was near a water source and decided to enroll in the Academy to learn more.

As she continued to grow, she started questioning many of the beliefs that her community instilled in her. drawing attention to herself. When came time for her trials to become a true Jinn to take place, foul play from her fellow Jinni, the same kids she had grown up with, her friends, resulted in her being outcasted from the community where even her very own parents gave her up in order to preserve their social standing, leaving Rajah to allow resentment to develop burning resentment. After a year of living life wandering on her own, she was finally detained and brought to the Academy where the next chapter of her life begins.

History: When Anther was very young, her mother died, leaving her a box full of letters. From this loss, she also lost her father to a vengeful man. Her father never looked at her the same after her mother's passing, he said she looked too much like her. Anther grew up being told she did not deserve to look like her mother, that she did not deserve love because of the torture she put her father through. When she was old enough, her father sent her away to this school. She sees it as a sort of prison because of this, but she does not have to energy or will to try and escape.

How they got their power: From her mother, Anther inherited the ability to create ice. However, for her power to work she must either have water readily available or draw from the water inside her body. Because of this, she can get dehydrated very easily.

Lore/Memory: The cold air rushed around her, tickling her nose as she chased after her mother. Anther giggled as her mother scooped her into her arms and pressed her forehead against Anther's.

Very, very shy. She may open up a bit more to people close to her, but overall she is very soft-spoken and timid. EXCEPTION: When Lios is submerged in water, she will become very self-confident and bold. Lois actually sees this as a weakness, but eventually she'll see this is really a power of its own.

She is also a total bookworm, prefering books over humans.

Her mother is naiad, and her father is a half-elf(since her grandmother was a full elf). Her naiad powers are definitely stronger. (If her father was a complete human, she would have been a complete naiad.)

Since her mother left her after she was born(most naiads do this), Lois has been raised up by her father. Her father is sometimes very befuddled about how to take care of a daughter, so this is why Lois is more used to taking care of herself.

Recently, her father decided she should go to school to learn more and (hopefully) make some friends, so here she is.

She can control water and breath underwater, from her naiad part. As mentioned above, she will get confidence from being submerged in the water. Séraphine is vain. She's beautiful, and she knows it. She cares a lot about her appearance. Ironically, if you tell her she's something other than beautiful, she won't be hurt. She'll just shrug it it off, assuming you are narrow-minded and not very bright.

She is a rule-follower, and wants everything to be just and fair. However, she doesn't have a good attitude and whenever she corrects someone she is very blunt and rude.

She has a nasty temper and isn't afraid to go after what she wants, and will do anything to achieve it. This does not win her a lot of friends. However, her sense of loyalty is extremely strong, and she will fiercely stand up for her loved ones.

She is also strong, mentally and physically. She will help those in need, but, like mentioned above, she has a very blunt attitude and won't waste time beating around the bush.

As a magic fairy, Séraphine has the power of persuasion. This gifted her with extraordinary beauty and eloquence. Her eyes seem bottomless and feels like a place you could get lost in.

Even when she's not focused on you, you'll still feel a slight need to do anything to make her happy and pleased with you. If she turns her maximum power on, who knows what she'll make you do!

However, this power is very draining and Séraphine will be knocked out for a long time afterwards, sometimes days, depending on how much she strained herself.

Her golden wings look very fragile and incapable of much, but in reality they are very strong and can let her fly very quickly and can maneuver even into the forests with a zillion trees.
