Commissioner Munro asks India and Matt to find a missing apprentice mapmaker, who happens to be his illegitimate son. They take on the assignment on top of their search for Chronos. Little do they know that their journey will take them further into the guilds’ machinations against magicians - and that this will lead them into more danger than they could have anticipated.

I really enjoyed this episode (more than the third one, which I read out of order) - there’s such a strong sense of growth for both Matt and India, the secondary characters are delightful, there’s genuine menace from both the introduction of the corrupt Sheriff Payne and Abercrombie, and the story is strong. #4 has just come through from the library, so I’ll look forward to picking it up.
