Nimitz At War by Craig Symonds - 5 stars

Part history, part biography, a wonderful book about both the WW2 Pacific Theater and Admiral Chester Nimitz. The leadership lessons are interspersed throughout and well supported by Nimitz’s actions. The two most dominant lessons being diplomacy and calculated risk taking. Chock full of colorful characters throughout and balanced with glimpses into the human side of an amazing man who managed to keep his head about him while others floundered. A little detailed at times when it comes to the battles but it all holds together and isn’t too much. If you don’t know much about this part of WW2 or Nimitz himself (I didn’t) then I highly recommend it.
