This was a fun book, second in this series that I have been meaning to read more of forever. I had read the first years ago and re-read it last year to get used to the series again.

The parallels between Klune's fictional world and our reality are striking. The "othering" and "dehumanizing" of those who are not like us; the machinations of government; the challenges faced by good people who work within corrupted systems; the use of fear to gain power; the power of media to distort and inflame or shine light and speak truth - all things we can see playing out in the world around us.
The overwhelming message is that of choosing love over fear and the power of speaking out against injustice. A book I would read again just to revisit some of the beautiful language that Klune uses. You definitely want to read The House on the Cerulean Sea before this sequel. Somewhere Beyond the Sea
A Vision of the Path Before Him: A Pride & Prejudice Variation by Elizabeth Frerichs (4 stars)
I added this to by TBR 2 years ago LOL Turned out pretty good. I thought it was a nice read.
