Juvenile book (probably Graphic Novel) with characters that use lightning swords. Reader is under 10, read this year.

A reader in my library is looking for a series he read one of and can't find more - the characters use "lightning swords" in his term. NOT Power Rangers, not Star Wars, not Percy Jackson. He said it was an "animated book" so i presume a graphic novel. No details on story or character names or anything. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
