When will GR finally ban private profiles and stop the scourge of hackers and hatemongers?

Lately, the amount of hateful, harassing messages on the forums have exploded, generated by 'members' using false identities or, more frequently, fake profiles using 'private' profiles. Those 'private profiles' are only helping scammers, hackers and hatemongers to hide their identities in order to send their hateful, cowardly messages. Private profiles should be taken out of GR as an option for new members: it you are not ready to show who you are, then you don't belong in a serious place like a GR forum. Let's stop facilitating things for those cowardly haters and scammers.

I agree 💯% Michel! I just reported 6 troll accounts this morning, all leaving vile, hateful comments on this one lady's post. All the comments have also been sent to me at various times, either here on Goodreads or through my email accounts. I block them on those accounts but they still manage to get through using a different email. It's really sickening! They think they're scaring me with their veiled threats but all they're doing is pissing me off and making me more determined than ever to see them spend life in prison for extortion and any number of other charges the FBI/CIA/Interpol can think up!!!!! 😠😡🤬😤
