Thanks for picking for me! Oh boy, let me go look and see what some of these are about. I have that fancy little box checked but I totally didn't get the notification for comments. I think I'm still broken at times. I'm going to find you some fun books right now.

bamaace83 | 1436 comments For Jenny!

I picked a wide variety of books and found a couple that I had read and liked. I know Onyx Storm comes out in January and if you're not planning on reading it right away, I can pick a different one but I have a feeling that you may have it ready to go sooner than later. I had to send you a fun winter book to read. It's not a hockey series but it's a fun fluffy romance series to go with all your fantasy. :)

The Echo of Old Books by Barbara Davis Chain of Iron (The Last Hours, #2) by Cassandra Clare Onyx Storm (The Empyrean, #3) by Rebecca Yarros Snow Angel by Thom Racina Wintersmith (Discworld, #35; Tiffany Aching, #3) by Terry Pratchett Artifacts (Faye Longchamp Mystery #1) by Mary Anna Evans and The Trouble with Mistletoe (Heartbreaker Bay, #2) by Jill Shalvis

message 31: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2149 comments Woohoo!
Oh, I totally plan to read Onyx the moment it comes out. I am hoping for cavorting dragons on the end papers again like the first book. Not sure why I like this series, but I totally do.

I am in the mood for a xmas bit of lightness, so thanks for the bonus pick too!

message 32: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 154 comments For LaurLa, I choose for you You Can Kill (Laurel Snow, #4) by Rebecca Zanetti , Christmas in Destiny (Destiny, #7) by Toni Blake and for the bonus I choose for you Christmas by the Book by Anne Marie Ryan and if that doesn’t work for you Shadowed Steel (Heirs of Chicagoland, #3) by Chloe Neill (I’ve liked this author before). Happy reading!

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) | 251 comments Angie,

I'll join so we can pick for each other
I'll go with Level 6 + Bonus

My list: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Danielle Gypsy Soul (afdaniellet) | 251 comments So Angie my picks for you are:

Thesed Three because I love these authors:
End Game (The Foundling Series Book 5) by Hailey Edwards Fate's Edge (The Edge, #3) by Ilona Andrews The Other Half of the Grave (Night Huntress, #8) by Jeaniene Frost

These three because they look good:
Track Her Down (Bree Taggert, #10) by Melinda Leigh The Christmas Cowboy Hero (Heart of Texas #1) by Donna Grant The Next Grave (Columbia River, #6) by Kendra Elliot

My favorite Christmas book is
Turkey in the Snow by Amy Lane - it's a sweet book with really great characters and it's pretty short. It is MM although tame but just in case you don't want to read that my favorite M/F Christmas book is:
Christmas with the Sheriff (Shadow Creek, Montana #1) by Victoria James

Michelle | 1918 comments Completion Post - Book 1

The Haunting of Millie Nettles (Blue Moon Appalachia #1) by Barry Napier

Book - The Haunting of Millie Nettles
Author - Barry Napier
Date Read - 12/8/24
Rating - 3 Stars
Review - To be honest, I'm not sure how much I like this series yet. Since this was the first book in the series it was ok, The concept of the story line was interesting, but nothing wowed me like I thought it would. The author's writing style was a bit off putting. He made a habit of fat shaming characters. This was done several times. He also pointed out several times that those that live in the hills of Appalachia were "dumb". I'll give it another couple of books before make a decision on whether to dump this series or not.

Twas The Nightshift Before Christmas by Adam Kay

Book - Twas The Nightshift Before Christmas
Author - Adam Kay
Date Read - 1/4/24
Rating - 3 stars
Review - The author, once upon a time, was a Junior Doctor in The NHS System in the UK. For 6 years in a row he wound up working the nightshifts during the Christmas season. He worked in the obstetrics and gynecology field. Many of his stories were pretty funny, some were horribly sad, and others were quite ick. Let's just say I will never be able to look at a an x-tra large candy cane the same way ever again.

The Winter Orphans by Kristin Beck

Book - The Winter Orphans
Author - Kristin Beck
Date - 1/19/25
Rating - 3 stars
Review - I was a bit disappointed in this story and hated giving it 3 stars. Normally, stories set during WW2 in Europe bring out so much emotion in me. This...not so much. The first half was a dry as sandpaper, repetitive with way to many characters. The direction seemed like it did not have a direction in which way it wanted to go. It finally seemed to come together towards the half-way mark. I know the author did quite a bit of research, but it read kinda like a textbook.

Will finish A Cold Day for Murder (Kate Shugak #1) by Dana Stabenow soon. Plan on getting to my other one but not sure if I'll make it in January.
