The Unfortunate Baudelaire children find themselves happily ensconced with a very distant relative, Uncle Montgomery Montgomery, a noted expert in reptilesn and a perfectly excellent human being and guardian, if a tad eccentric. But can the evil Count Olaf be far behind? There is still that fortune to steal, after all. The creation of the Deadly Viper and its interactions with Sunny were the best part of the whole book.

This time I listened to the audiobook, as Tim Curry was highly reviewed. He really is excellent, bringing the characters to life. I could see his facial expressions in my mind's eye as he read, and that moment near the end when he repeated the word 'ever' for pages was a highlight. The audio read by him was the perfect accompaniment to some tedious tracking chores.
