OUT OF LUX discussion

wait really? mean, if it works in real life very possibly? And maybe it’s like she has new investigators paired with experienced ones for their first few cases and then when they’re ready they work cases on their own?

technically, it doesn't make much sense for Elliot already be a detective as it is, but I can't really change his age now 😭

yeah, I think it would make sense to have like a transition period where the old investigator is still there with the new one

everyone is too young in this world, so I kinda just didn't think much about it lol. fantasy worlds usually have people doing stuff younger lol

no I no, they do, it just hit me I have no idea when he would have trained, or like, my war casters for that matter, and I know for a fact everyone in the militia had to train. Maybe we do the bootcamp/militia school thing? So it was like, six months of very intense training and then continuous training even after they officially joined. I just know Katarina won’t allow untrained people to join so there has to be training involved, probably rigorous especially if it’s a shorter program

nah you’re good; I should have thought about this back in November lmao this is my bad

no, yeah, I figured a boot camp thing would be involved. like, the def have to train lol. but, yeah, that works.
so maybe with Elliot, since he's an investigator, he had to work with the last one for a while, and that investigator just retired very recently? or they're still there, who knows lmao

yes! That works for me! And again, yeah, I don’t mind adding another investor claim if that’s what we all agree on :)
Okay cool, and yeah I am so sorry I didn’t think about the training involved until now lmao that is my fault 😭 because truly Elliot as an investigator is great I was just like wait what was the timeline?!

no but fr, the timeline is far too confusing lmao. but, yeah, ok, sounds good. the fact that this started with me working on Adrien's history, but now I've got more info on Elliot's lol

but yeah, if the other investigator retired, I can maybe use them in memory logs lol. or I could make them, but more chars is the last thing I need just now

it is haha. Still I apologize for not thinking this through months ago! And yeah, I don’t mind that at all, use them for memory logs, why not! And yeah idk haha, we can always open up a new claim if mods are down too if we want

alright, so I've got the nova bearer, and I was wondering if there was anything I should know on how these Coven members get their positions? are they chosen by whoever held it first, are they voted in, does it simply go to the most skilled? and can said leaders step down, or so they just hold that position until they die? and i know that several people have had it pass from mother to daughter, but that isn't required, is it?
also, where do i post the descriptions for places when i write them?
hmmmm very good question.... i could see it being a vote, but the previous holder of the position has the power to nominate someone and put her weight behind them, and often the nominee is the one who will hold the position next. leaders can step down, yes, but they can hold the position for as long as they want. it can pass mother to daughter but that is not always the case. it should go to whoever is the most skilled in that magic
you can post the descriptions in topic requests!

hmmmm very good question. i think yes there could be a vault-style bank situation for storing valuables and family heirlooms you wouldn't want to keep out around the house. definitely a catering to the wealthiest of the wealthy situation

wait question. would the banks/vaults be under calico purview though? since they're in charge of the jewels, precious metals, gems, and valuables? i think they definitely have vaults of valuables and gems and stuff. or are these vaults for people storing general items different?
they manage distribution and have the actual jewels, but they need somewhere to store them so the devoes manage that. if they have vaults, those are personal, this is for the general public. if they want to store a massive pile of family heirlooms that aren't jewels, they can with the devoes. we need to allow other families to have things too
i was actually thinking that the calicos specifically would be really good clients for the devoes and their vaults. they have the precious gems and would need somewhere secure to store their excess wealth, which is where the devoes would come in

they manage distribution and have the actual jewels, but they need somewhere to store them so the devoes manage that. if they have vaults, those are personal, this is for the general public. if ..."
oh yeah absolutely, i just wasn't sure what the breakdown was

so, I've been working on Andre's plot and it doesn't seem right for a wizard to be working with the council. however, I've found a great idea for a new class of magical spells that if mods allow, I'd be interested in exploring with them. and for context, what would be happening in the plot is Andre would be 'discovering' new magic and learning the class as he begins to write about it. am I allowed to expand on this idea?
im very intrigued! The only thing we don’t really want with magic is anything that feels too overpowered or anything related to necromancy so if your idea is not that, let’s hear it! Also second question would you be willing to have others (potentially from not Asterath/voxthain but also maybe yes) having some of these powers if they’re fully implemented in the group? We can discuss what that would look like

well, my idea is that while Andre attempts to study, failing, and his frustration leads to a burst of the new magic. Then his plotline is drawn into the magic as he studies it secretly until he reveals the powers to the world.
Absolutely not necromancy, I know you guys has already not like that. I went slightly overboard earlier and kinda drafted it in the Lux format so I'll PM that to you!
of course I'm sure it would prob be different for investigators
