Daina :) | 262 comments I use to have them and ice (just hold it in your mouth don’t bite it) works really well and so does smoothies :)

message 3: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments you just suffer lol. I hate when my wire would poke my gums it was terrible.

ella | 2650 comments hated*

Milla (active on week days) | 72 comments Acetaminophen.

message 6: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 60 comments Having braces sucked. There isn't really a lot you can do for the pain. I used to put a heating pad along my jaw and that helped a little.

message 7: by India ♡ (new)

India ♡ I normally use cold things like ice or milkshakes and ice cream

message 8: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 60 comments They only hurt when you first get them on and then whenever you have to get them tightened. The pain only lasts for a few days and then after that it doesn't hurt that much anymore

message 9: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments oh yeah braces hurt not all the time tho just if you then tightened they take a few days to loosen up and if the wire pokes you ah I hated that but there worth it in the end well if you wear your retainer lol

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

ohhh i just got my braces off but ice cream normally helps with the pain

message 11: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments man I should've tried the things y'all have mentioned all I did was take Advil and hope for the best haha

message 12: by Azure⚢❀ (new)

Azure⚢❀ | 63 comments I hated braces, I did multiple things they probably wouldn't recommend.
1.) I ate lots of gum, it helps the gums adjust faster, it doesn't work immediately but it works faster than waiting.
2.) Using my hand to press against my mouth, it puts pressure on the teeth and personally it relived a lot of pain, temporarily.
3.) Good old pain relievers.
4.) Putting pressure on teeth using tongue.
Hope this helps.

message 13: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments oh yeah I still ate chewy things and all that I only broke a bracket once

message 14: by India ♡ (new)

India ♡ yea, i think I've broken mine, maybe twice. I've had mine on for three years already 😭😭

message 15: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments @india like broken everything ?

message 16: by India ♡ (new)

India ♡ nah just a bracket

message 17: by India ♡ (new)

India ♡ I don't even know how people break everything

message 18: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments Fr that would be insane

message 19: by Tayjah (new)

Tayjah I also would drink milkshakes and smoothies to help soothe the pain. I was lucky that my dental office would give free McDonald’s smoothies to their patients so I was always drinking the mango smoothies. Also, putting wax on the wires helped too. Your orthodontist should give you some

message 20: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments the wax for me never worked would always fall off

message 21: by India ♡ (new)

India ♡ I know right I swear it does nothing

message 22: by Tayjah (new)

Tayjah Damn for me it helped with the wire poking my gums but to each their own. If it’s free, it doesn’t hurt to try

message 23: by angeline (new)

angeline (ramblingdaydreams) cold things helped me, like ice cold water, ice cream and the such

message 24: by Hyejin (last edited Nov 07, 2024 08:33AM) (new)

Hyejin | 9 comments if it's the wires poking, use wax - helped me A LOT. but if it's the actual teeth hurting because of the braces, i'm afraid there's nothing we can do about that but drink meds if the pain is too much T__T ice cream makes me feel better tho and i feel like it kinda lessen but doesn't really take away the pain

message 25: by ✨sofia✨ (new)

✨sofia✨ | 669 comments I would take some ibroprofen or Tylenol, wax if it’s poking your lips. Don’t worry, the pain will eventually go away.
But it’ll come back every 2 months when you get your wires changed 😀

The OG misa | 212 comments just don't use ice I know some people say to but your nerves get very sensitive after putting on braces and it will course more pain

message 27: by Luli (new)

Luli | 296 comments idk about the pain but whenever a wire poked me id use a lil bit of that wax thingy, if you press it well it works like a charm

My problem Is that In a few weeks I'm gonna get surgery and they have to remove my Wisdom teeth and connect a Chain to my twelve year Molars to the Wire so Like as soon as I start Feeling better I am gonna have to start all over Again 😭

And they aren't Just Tighten my braces but also reel the Chain up to pull the tooth up every two months as well my mouth Is so screwed up T^T

chloe ☾ (reading slump & semiactive) | 165 comments my orthodontist recommend swishing warm salt water in your mouth and it really does help for a while!

message 38: by Gigi (new)

Gigi | 4 comments They hurt at first, but you'll get used to them eventually! Keep taking pain meds for now girly 😭

For food tho, I would say to eat soups and rlly soft bananas. Overall, eat soft foods and ice cream!

GLL w everything, the only thing I hated was getting them tightened bc the pain came back and gave me headaches 😔

message 39: by ella (new)

ella | 2650 comments lol literally there's not much you can do you just silently suffer 😂

message 40: by Graciela ♎ (new)

Graciela ♎ (nancyqxo) When I got my braces the only thing that bother me was the spacers but after getting them the first couple of hours i felt uncomfortable but drinking or eating something cold has helped sooth the feeling. It just takes time to get used them but they're worth it though! So just push through it and dont think about the pain as much it just temporarily.

☾ ⋆*・゚Emily (e.clairepages) (eclairepages) | 28 comments Psychii wrote: "Yall Braces hurt so bad and Idk how to deal With the Pain Besides Taking Pain meds I need help 😭"

two tylenol & one advil. my mom is a nurse (25+ years) and always recommended that because its what the hospital prescribes for over the counter pain meds that don't require prescription.

Eat soft foods & stretching your head/neck/jaw.

message 42: by DAINTY (new)

DAINTY JAMES | 2 comments Hi, please buy any product mothers use when baby are getting new teeth and in pain, like Buy Bonjela on Amazon, I use for my wisdom teeth.

message 43: by ♥ Melissa ♥ (new)

♥ Melissa ♥ | 11 comments Wax for the wires and brackets that are cutting your mouth. Drink warm salt water and that will help.

message 44: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 8 comments I recommend taking Advil/Tylenol, (Basically what you would take for period cramps because braces can REALLY hurt). I also found chewing gum helps after getting them adjusted, also take a pain reliever BEFORE getting them adjusted. I hope this helps! Love, Lauren

message 45: by Briana (new)

Briana Dreamfyre | 22 comments One thing I used to do a looooooooooooooong time ago when I had braces was drink ice water. Water is good for you, the ice in the water will numb the pain a bit. IMPORTANT: Do not chew/ crunch/ munch the ice. It can and will damage your braces.

Best of luck to you!

Briana Dreamfyre

message 46: by A~ (new)

A~ | 44 comments Ugh tbh these first few days after u get them SUCKS. I remember when I just got them I didn't even sleep well and had a fever I don't even know if it was related to having braces but I really suffered😭 I hated my life when I just got them. I guess taking pain killers every few hours might help a little though

message 47: by sara (new)

sara *☆~ | 238 comments I’ve still got em on. the pain is horrific. but ice cream (helps temporarily), ICE WATER (a must have but don’t crunch the ice) and paracetamol! hope it helps xx

arianna(sabrina's version)❤ | 148 comments I just got mine too, try eating ice cream and jello(not together of course lol)
