Can not find this romance novel from the 00s/10s - help me!

It’s burned into my memory but can’t remember the title or author - Jennifer Crusie or similar. Our heroine is vaguely witchy and realizes her grandmother is a witch when she won’t let her throw out her toenail clippings. Our hero is a firefighter or hockey player - maybe both? I want to say it takes place in a northern city and there’s big Italian families. Ringing a bell for anyone?
