2024 End of the Year Sprint: Individual Readathon
Duration: November 1 to November 4, 2024

Welcome to the 2024 End of the Year Sprint individual reading challenge! Within this thread, you can track your reading habits for the weekend and talk with other participants about books you’re reading and other readathon related topics. Feel free to reserve yourself a post in this thread and continue updating it whenever you add pages/hours/titles to your readathon log. There is no pressure to post in here but we’d love to get a good conversation going to keep up everyone’s reading momentum!

Here is a template you can use for tracking purposes, but feel free to use your own!

1. Tell us how your reading has been so far this year. What have your favorite books been? Which have you hated?

3. How have your yearly, monthly, and quarterly challenges been going? Which challenge are you *really* hoping to complete during this readathon?

Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 4737 comments I wasn't sure I'd be able to take part in this Readathon as I've got a busy weekend of family commitments. But, I'm still finding time to read.

Anything from my TBR

* Friday 1 Nov: 129 pages (33%) of ASOE read
* Saturday 2 Nov: 255 pages (67%) of ASOE. Books completed: A Symphony of Echoes
* Sunday 3 Nov: 236 pages (48%) of ASC read
* Monday 4 Nov: 256 pages (52%) of ASC read. Books completed: A Second Chance
* Total pages read: 876. Books completed: 2

My answers to the discussion questions
1. As at 31 October, I have read 94 books. My goal is to read 101 in 2024 so I should get there even though I feel like I've been in a slump the past few weeks (probably due to the family stuff I have going on).
My favourite books read so far are: The Last Devil to Die, Ink Blood Sister Scribe, Murtagh and A Deadly Education.
My least favourites are: The Two Noble Kinsmen and Raven's Gate

2. I am most excited to read more of The Chronicles of St Mary's series by Jodi Taylor during this readathon.

3. My challenges have been going really well. I've completed every quarterly and monthly challenge that I've signed up for and currently working on my Q4 and November challenges (although the books I'm reading this weekend won't really count towards those). I signed up for 8 yearly challenges (including one in another group) and have already reached my goal in 4 of them.

message 4: by Lina (new)

Lina | 823 comments I am joining as well as I have lately been too busy to keep up with my goals - so I hope this motivates me to find more time for reading again (and it is individual - so if not I can only fail for myself :D). I will answer the discussion questions a bit later.
(Also, I somehow missed the start of this event, so yesterday wasn't a good reading day for me.)

1. Tell us how your reading has been so far this year. What have your favorite books been? Which have you hated? I've had a great reading year so far! I've finished my overarching 2024 goal of 75 books so now I'm able to focus on what's left of my challenges within this group. My favorite book has been CREED: A Dark Sins Duet (Book One) by Meg Eliza. My most recent hated book was Nothing But Blackened Teeth.

2. Which book(s) are you most excited to read this weekend? I was most excited to read House of Clowns and I did get to read some of it, though I didn't end up finishing it.

3. How have your yearly, monthly, and quarterly challenges been going? Which challenge are you *really* hoping to complete during this readathon? Great! I have 2 prompts left in Genre Bingo and I've already completed Bookworms Take Shelfies. I reduced my challenge sign ups drastically this year which has helped me focus on more of my favorites so it's been nice.

Discussion Questions:

1. Tell us how your reading has been so far this year. What have your favorite books been? Which have you hated?
It's been a good reading year. I'm a few books from my goodreads goal. My favorites were re-reads: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Murder on the Orient Express. My favorite new reads were: Six of Crows, Before Your Memory Fades, and Every Heart a Doorway. My least favorite was Heart of Darkness.
2. Which book(s) are you most excited to read this weekend?
Death on the Nile and The Wild Robot
3. How have your yearly, monthly, and quarterly challenges been going? Which challenge are you *really* hoping to complete during this readathon?
I think I've been doing well on all my challenges. I have left the tough prompts for the end though. So I really don't think I'll be able complete any during this readathon.

bailey (bailsbookshelves) | 1223 comments Welcome, everyone!

I'm so glad to be reading this weekend with you all and trying to finish up some of our reading goals for 2024. Reading through all of your answers to the discussion questions has been so fun! I love seeing which books we have in common whether through TBR or already read books. I hope we can all enjoy the rest of this readathon and make a final sprint of progress towards our goals!!

What have your favorite books been? Some of my favorite reads were: Assistant to the Villain, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, Fourth Wing and its sequel Iron Flame, and the Hearstopper series.
Which have you hated? I didn't really hate any, just more of had a hard time wanting to pick it up or finish it. I would have to say The Magic Mountain and Eruption would be two of them
2. Which book(s) are you most excited to read this weekend? I really wanted to dive more into Gothikana
3. How have your yearly, monthly, and quarterly challenges been going? Challenges have been going well for the most part, some I know I won't complete, but that's okay.
