Zeuse | 12 comments Ok so i distinctly remember reading a book in either middle school or hs, so it's been no more than 10 years. It's about a city that travels around with major class disparity, the lowest of the lows are the mechanics that keep the city running and are sometimes kidnapped to become mute servants to the rich folk.

After the inevitable revolution the monarchs are revealed to basically be the equivalent of the current British monarchs, lots of titles, almost no true power (nothing against Britain, just an example). They end up having to don their old regalia to negotiate with a non-moving settlement for supplies bc all of society operates in the old way, the non moving the other moving cities etc. I do remember a huge fight between the protag city and another one.

But that's all I remember, any help would be appreciated.

Zeuse, I copied book details to the topic header. Feel free to edit it.

What's the genre - e.g., for teens or adults? fantasy, science fiction, dystopia, steampunk, etc.?

Who is the main character?

Google Books preview of Worldshaker by Richard Harland- Jules's suggestion:
- There are different cover images.
Quote from the book:
- Col goggled. "You can speak?"
"Course I can speak. Why wouldn't I?"
"I thought ... I didn't know Filthies could speak. Menials can't."
