maybe this one:
It seems different for Abbi Waxman and I'm not normally into mysteries, but I love her books. And she came to my book club online once and was equally hilarious so I look forward to the humor
I'm trying to get through my Owned & Unread Piles in 2025 so I'm desperately trying to ignore new publications! But I am quite likely to be persuaded to deviate from plan because of new releases by Charlotte McConaghy and Eowyn Ivey!
I usually wildcard this prompt, because I never know what books are due for release or what I'll have access to, so I can't plan for it, but 2025 will be different. I'm really excited about Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab and it's due for release early enough that I should reach the front of the library wait list before the end of the year (hopefully well before that!).
I'm reading Witchcraft for Wayward Girls, but I'm not sure if I'm using it for this prompt. Riley Sager and Ruth Ware tend to publish a book a year.
So far, these look good:The Stolen Queen - Fiona Davis
The Queens of Crime - Marie Benedict
The Ballad of Mary Kearney - Katherine Mezzacappa
Of course I may find something different as the year goes on.
I usually select the next book of a series I love. For 2025, it will be The Beijing Betrayal by Joel C. Rosenberg.
I read a lot of new books, and I already have 100+ titles on my 2025 releases spreadsheet, so I have plenty to choose from.I'm excited for The Dark Mirror by Samantha Shannon, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab, Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy, Faithbreaker by Hannah Kaner, The Martian Contingency by Mary Robinette Kowal, Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett, Eat the Ones You Love by Sarah Maria Griffin and Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear by Seanan McGuire.
Ellie wrote: "Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy..."Wow that's a great cover!! It would fit for "waves on the cover" too.
I won a GR giveaway for Wild Dark Shore! It just arrived at my house last night and I am VERY excited. Not sure if I'll hold off reading it until 2025, but if I do, I'll likely use it for this prompt or waves on the cover.

I got NetGalleys of her previous books but it's being published by an indie publisher here this time, and 2 months later than the US release. I bet it won't even have waves on the cover!
I found mine! Elly Griffiths has a new series coming in February (GR) or July (Amazon for all formats): The Frozen People
I read The Note. It was just ok, I considered DNFing because it felt to over the top but I was also sort of curious to see how it played out.
I will be reading Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. It is being released on Tuesday (Jan 21), and I will be reading it on Tuesday! Unfortunately, I work all day and the college class I teach starts on Tuesday night, so I will probably not finish on Tuesday. Maybe I should call in sick...... LOL - okay I won't. But I will THINK about it. :)
I read The Crash by Freida McFadden It was my first book by this author and I can see why she's popular. She can write a page-turner. 3.5 stars.

I hope you enjoy it :)
This prompt occurs every year, and I appreciate it as I would likely never read anything new if it didn't. Still, it's usually one of the last prompts that I read. But not this year, since Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett dropped in February.
I read Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghyIt was worth the 9 month wait. I loved it almost as much as Migrations
I'm counting Letter Slot by Owen King for this one. Technically its a short story, but since it's published as a single story it counts as a book. (The book I am starting today is a full length novel and also published in 2025, so the prompt is covered regardless!)
I read Atmosphere and because I needed to wild card my 2016 round for obvious reasons, One True Loves.I enjoyed them both. The MC in Atmosphere was perhaps a little too perfect, but the space scenes were gripping.
I read (and fully enjoyed) My Friends by Fredrik Backman. Published 5/6/2025.As most Backman books do, this book made me laugh, cry (happy cry), and feel my heart swell.
For sensitive readers, some triggers might include familial abuse and thoughts of suicide. Although present, these are fairly "off page" and discussed more for context.
I read:
Glamorous Notions by Megan ChanceREJECT: A book related to fashion or the fashion industry
Finished: 07/21/2025
Rating: 5 stars
From Goodreads:
A costume designer’s past casts a long shadow over her well-constructed lies in this intriguing story about stolen identities, friendship, and betrayal
Excellent! Complex plot with complex characters. Set in 1950's Hollywood.
Pam wrote: "I read the graphic novel It Rhymes With Takei by George Takei. I thoroughly enjoyed it!"I'm still on the waiting list at the library.
I am reading Family Matters at Blackberry Farm by Rosie Clarke. I don't tend to follow what new books are being published.
I read Three Days in June. I'm moving my previous book, Death of the Author to scifi written by a woman
