[BWF] Hide and Seek by Ian Rankin – 3 Stars

This is the second book in Rankin’s popular series following John Rebus, an ex-SAS man who is now a police Inspector. I thought that the writing was strong and I liked the dialogue among the main characters. Though the plot was quite simple, I enjoyed this book more than the first in this series, and the fast-pace of this book kept me engaged throughout as Rankin explored the darker side of Edinburgh. Rebus seems a very different character in this second book, and less haunted by the memories of the war, so it will be interesting to see how his character continues to evolve in this next book.
