Introduction to The Sum of Us

Hello! We are excited to share our next TIPH Book Club pick –The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together.

Through her work looking for answers to why the American economy has so often failed the American public, Heather McGhee found racism in politics and policy making has a cost to everyone. As Heather McGhee travels across America, she explores what is lost when we subscribe to the zero-sum paradigm that progress for some only happens at the expense of others. However, Heather McGhee finds another way, what she calls the Solidarity Dividend, the transformative benefits we gain when we come together across races.
