JB is my least feel character. Culture wise, I can relate to JB. JB is considered the man of the house by his grandmother and mother. His mother cleans and cooks his favorite food. I have an older brother who is seen as the man of the house by mom.
I love how the author told the story of all the main characters, except for Jude's in part 1. It left me in suspense. It motivated me to continue reading/ listening to find out more about Jude's past.

JB is highly opinionated and judgmental. But on the other hand also seems to be the life of the party.
Willem and Hemmings bond is touching. I could tell alot about Willems character (sweet, caring, compassionate) by this alone. However, I was annoyed with him for not wanting to ask Jude the hard questions after the NYE incident.
The suspense in wanting to know more about Jude kept me engaged.
I definitely understand that frustration with Willem. At the same time, it’s so relatable to feel so helpless in a situation where someone you love not only refuses help but will cut you off for trying too hard.
⭐️Whoa these chapters are long
⭐️I haven’t read a character-driven novel in a while and it’s been nice getting to know our 4 leads. The author is incredibly skilled at creating complex and dimensional characters.
⭐️The least relatable to me so far is JB
⭐️Most likeable is Willem
⭐️Some heavy foreshadowing about Jude’s future that I’m nervous about
⭐️Willem’s relationship with parents was so interesting especially since it seemed that they wanted children so badly, but it’s interesting what was said about their grief possibly impacting their ability to connect with another child maybe from fear of losing him too. I can’t imagine the trauma of 3 deceased children.
Curious if you feel like there’s a main character so far or if it’s equally split. I’m sort of viewing Willem as the lead right now.
