MountainKat | 31599 comments We just got home and it is just after midnight. I will check your books later. 😴

Here is your next task!

Task 4 - 23. Each teammate reads a book that has been read by one of the RRRC moderators. No pass for this task.

To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be marked as read by one of the RRRC moderators. There is no date requirement for this task, but the selected book must be marked as read and rated. Series rule applies. Please include a link to the moderator's review or read shelf in your completion posts. To make your searching easier - Fran, Jane, Karen and I all read MM Romance, but Jane reads MM exclusively. Fran, Karen and I read both MF and MM.

Fran's profile is private, but I'm sure she will accept any friend requests. 😊

Also, consider this assigned on 10/26 - so you would be eligible for another task on the 28th.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments Fun task!

Note to self: found books on Karen’s shelf. Took screenshots for reference.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments I asked this in the challenge Q and A thread, but asking here in case any of you knows already — what is the “series rule” that is mentioned in our task? I looked at all of the group threads that seemed like they would explain but I didn’t see it anywhere.

message 108: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments T, series rule is where you can read another book in a series when dealing with lists or someone’s shelves. Opens things so if you find book one on the shelf/list but you are actually on book 2, you can read your book 2. And vice versa, if the book found is further along than you are in the series, you can read the book that’s up next for you.

Make sense?

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments Makes perfect sense. Thanks, LaurLa!

Laura | 1148 comments I started an In Death book yesterday before we got this task, but I have a couple more I got from the library for Turf Wars. So I'll do one of those. Jane has read a few in the series. And looks like MKat has read most of the series.

message 111: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments I have almost too many options, but my Gift Exchange book (assuming we keep the task) is on Fran's shelf, so I'll probably go with that.

MountainKat | 31599 comments Here is your next task!

Task 5 - 14. Read a minimum of 1000 pages in books with Contemporary Romance as MPG.

Contemporary and Romance do not have to be combined and may be combined with other words, MM Romance for example, but BOTH must be MPG (Main Page Genre)! Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count.

Laura | 1148 comments I marked Twice in a Blue Moon as currently reading the other day, but I haven't actually started it yet as other things/challenges came up. I'll fix the start date on that one and move it up. 368 pages.

LaurLa | 5085 comments MountainKat wrote: "Please correct to the first edition Kindle page count (369). Thanks."

Wow. You really had to go hunting for that one. I will change it but I will also say that edition is most likely mismarked as a Kindle edition. That cover doesn't even exist on US Amazon. Can't find it elsewhere on the internet to know what to change it to, so I'll just leave it alone.

Edit: Stephanie Perkins' website shows it as a UK paperback. But the publisher has a different cover and no publish date (which is odd). So weird how book editions can virtually disappear.

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 497 comments Laura I really like that book!
I have a couple books planned that will work for this.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments I’ll be reading Identity 439 pages

message 127: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments Stupid challenges... all the books I need to read for them are historical or paranormal... not contemporary.

I'm going to go with This Beautiful Thing, 182 pp. It has a good page count for TW and with T's big book, we'll go over the 1000 pp requirement quite easily.

As a team, select an author. Every teammate reads a book by the selected author. Please include the selected author in your completion posts. Pseudonyms are allowed, but if used please include a link to the author’s page or website showing it is the same as the team selected author. No pass for this task.

message 137: by LaurLa (last edited Nov 05, 2024 09:13PM) (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments I'm trying to read these peeps in the coming week or so.

Jennifer Ashley
Eve Langlais
Lucy Score
Ilona Andrews
Marie Force
Sawyer Bennett
Martha Wells

I will always drop and read for Nora Roberts/JD Robb or Kristen Ashley (yeah, I know no one else here will do that for KA!).

But still open to other suggestions.

message 138: by Laura (new)

Laura | 1148 comments I can do Lucy Score. Or Martha Wells. I'm always up for Murderbot!

I know Berit doesn't particularly care for Nora Roberts.

I have an Arc of a Karina Halle book (the book came out a few weeks ago, so I really do need to get to it soon!).

And on the off chance this happens to fit for everyone here, my book club this month is doing Well Met and Green Light, so I'm also up for Jescie Hall or Jen DeLuca.

message 139: by ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (last edited Nov 06, 2024 04:21AM) (new)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments Using LaurLa’s list, I’m up for Martha Wells for sure!

Also Ilona Andrews.

Never read Lucy Score but if I can get a book I’m open to trying her.

From Laura’s, I’d read Karina Halle. I’m interested in Well Met.(just borrowed a copy!)

I’m probably the odd woman out with my tastes, and I’m not really tied to any specific books for challenges (I’m almost done with the books I need to finish this week) so I’ll just aim for what the majority wants. That being said, I’ve got JD Robb and Karin Slaughter books ready to go, if anyone is into them.

Oh, I was inspired by Berit’s candy land book so I looked at my library offerings and found this by that author The Christmas Wager, if anyone is interested.

Now, let’s see what Berit has in mind!

message 140: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments Jen DeLuca has a new one out that came out this year, which would have fit the last TW listopia, of course. So I could go for that.

message 141: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 5085 comments T, if we go with DeLuca, we can get you copies. If Michelle doesn't have them, then I can certainly send them to you in email. Same with Lucy Score, well, at least the first couple in the Riley Thorn or Knockemout series. I have one stand alone from her I loved Mr. Fixer Upper

message 142: by ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (last edited Nov 06, 2024 04:34AM) (new)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments Thanks! I actually got lucky with my library for the Jen DeLuca book a minute ago. Looking into Lucy Score in a sec. And yeah, I thought about Michelle after my rambling 🤣

Edit: wow my libraries are anti-Lucy Score. I’ve seen her books all over the internet and book store so fully expected tons of books with wait lists. There were two books and one was in Dutch! And I’ve got about 12 digital library cards…

Edit two: Lucy books are on KU! My free trial doesn’t expire until December 😁

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments Okay let me make a more concise post now that my options are sorted.

I’m up for these (all have been noted by LaurLa and/or Laura)

Martha Wells
Ilona Andrews
Jen DeLuca
Lucy Score
Karina Halle

(And my own offerings of JD Robb or Karin Slaughter)

LaurLa | 5085 comments I can't remember if we've been allowed to combine JD Robb and Nora Roberts before... seems like we have but I could be misremembering or just outright dreaming. But either way, it's still a drop and read for me!

Yes, pen names can be combined. From MKat's post: Pseudonyms are allowed, but if used please include a link to the author’s page or website showing it is the same as the team selected author.

Laura | 1148 comments I'll add Elizabeth Briggs to my list, as well. I forgot she had a series on the Time Travel list for TWs.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments Is that the correct author link, Laura?

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments Master List

Here is a master list of all the authors that 2 or more of us have said they would read up to now. Just waiting for Berit's input/additions.

Lucy Score
Ilona Andrews
Martha Wells
Karina Halle
Jen DeLuca
J.D. Robb (or Nora Roberts)

Authors who were mentioned but not seconded are under the spoiler

how about Martha Wells, her books are short and I've been meaning to get to them.
