Jason (jasonr) | 43 comments Here's another book on my reading list that isn't in the Goodreads database/catalog. I'm really surprised this one isn't in there, as it has been in publication for over 15 years under several editions.

Can we please have added:

Judaism Discovered: A Study of the Anti-Biblical Religion of Racism, Self-Worship, Superstition and Deceit
by Michael A. Hoffman II
ISBN-10: 0970378459 (hardcover, 2008)
ISBN-13: 9780970378453 (hardcover, 2008)
ISBN-10: 0990954714 (paperback, 2015)
ISBN-13: 9780990954712 (paperback, 2015)
Publisher: Independent History and Research
Publication Date: 2008 & 2015
Pages: 1102
Language: English

Here are some source links for verification:

Archive.org pages for the book:
1) https://archive.org/details/hoffman-m...
2) https://archive.org/details/michael-h...

AbeBook's page for the book:
https://www.abebooks.com/book-search/...

I've verified the book meets all criteria for a valid edition using the Librarian Manual pages.

Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!

Michele | 6354 comments So, the hardcover is in WorldCat and I verified the information there as well. That edition is actually already in GR but its status is set to "invalid." I've posted a request to get that changed (for some reason I'm unable to change it). For the paperback, we need to be able to verify the ISBN and other information (for example, it may have a different page count and/or publisher). I couldn't find the paperback in WorldCat.

Can you provide a link to the paperback edition's page on Amazon, or on the publisher or author website, or in a public library catalog, so we can verify the ISBN and other information? Or if you have the book in hand, a photo of the front and back cover and title page would work, as long as it shows the ISBN.

Jason (jasonr) | 43 comments Okay, that doesn't surprise me that the hardcover is already here but marked as "invalid." It's been a huge issue lately of valid books discovered to have been changed to "invalid" despite fulfilling the GR guidelines and criteria.

By chance, did the hardcover edition of this book on GR happen to have been updated to "invalid" on the date of 09/23/2024?

The paperback is definitely harder to find from a non-seller source for some reason. I did find the paperback also on AbeBooks (https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/Book...) and then I also included these non-seller databases, but they haven't yet been accepted as "official" sources, so I'm not sure if that helps:

OpenLibrary:
https://openlibrary.org/books/OL48583...

ISBNDB:
https://isbndb.com/book/9780990954712

ISBNSearch.org:
https://isbnsearch.org/isbn/978099095...

The author does have an official site where the paperback book is described and offered, but it's a pretty disorganized website. The book is found here though: https://truthfulhistory.blogspot.com/...

Thanks for the assistance and info.

David Raz (davidraz) | 13127 comments Regarding the hardcover, there is nothing we can do since the invalid status was set by an administrator. You can try to contact support and ask them to fix it, though both Michele and myself already did that, and we were apparently ignored.
I added the paperback based on the AbeBooks entry and the author's page: Judaism Discovered: A Study of the Anti-Biblical Religion of Racism, Self-Worship, Superstition and Deceit

Bruno Rodrigues | 14517 comments A lot of jewish related books have been banned from GR.
Probably this was one of those.
As said before, only GR Staff can return this book's status back to Public.
There's nothing librarians can do, so I'm closing this request

David Raz (davidraz) | 13127 comments I got this message from support:

Thank you for contacting us. Goodreads takes the responsibility of supporting our community of readers very seriously. As part of this, we have recently removed book records that violate our guidelines.

In addition, they set the paperback edition invalid as well. Frankly, after doing a search I understand why.
