Why didn’t Jacks turn human?

At the end Jacks was crying red tears when he thought Evangeline died but how come his tears didn’t turn in to real tears. If you read finale (spoiler alert if you haven’t read the carnaval series) before the fallen star dies he cries and his tears a real because he finally felt love and turned human so he could than be killed. How come Jacks didn’t become human? If he loved Evangeline he would’ve turned human, but I don’t know it’s probably an error or something.

Jacks is turning human. It is said the longer they love, the more their heart becomes human until they become human completely. It’s a process, not an on and off switch that happens immediately. If you read the ending, the story curse kept referring to jacks as the “not quite human boy”. I take this as he’s in his way.
Huh, never thought about that. That is interesting. Probably just an error. Except weird question and it just be me not reading closely enough, but did Evangeline turn immortal at the end? Or was the ending open?

The fallen star died which means he’s just ageless like Julian

it probs was an error because yeah if he begins to love he'll turn human just like what happened with Dante. Since he sacrificed his immortality to love Tella.
