I finally started the The Storm Runner series by J.C. Cervantes. It's one of the Rick Riordan presents titles, and it certainly reads like something he's written. We'll call that smart branding. Mayan gods galore! I also thoroughly enjoyed a historical by Anne Nesbet. Daring Darleen, Queen of the Screen is set during the silent film era. A kidnapping plot goes awry, and it's up to Darleen, a girl who grew up on the silver screen, to carry the day. BONUS: You can use this book for "Q" in the A to Z Challenge! If you like sci-fantasy, The Interstellar Detectives by P.J. Nichols has a fun set-up. Kids can come into rare superpowers on their birthday, and if they do, they're sent to work for the Interstellar Detectives. Space, heroes, and heists! And I really warmed to I'm from Here Too by Kashmira Sheth, about a Sikh boy who is as American as any of the other kids in his class. Anoop struggles to live up to the teachings of his faith while facing ignorance and bullying at school. Loved this peek into his big, loving family.
Chime in! What were your good reads?
