“It seems to me that organized creeds are collections of words around a wish. I feel no need for such. I know that nothing is destructibl..."
Hi Daniel
I have found lots of corroborating evidence that this quote is indeed from Dust Tracks (plus there is already a longer version of the quote on that book) so I have shifted it & removed Hurston's name from the body of the text.
Be aware if this becomes a common misconception about this quote, a new version may appear & a librarian may decide to add a tag that it is wrongly attributed.
Thanks for reporting.
“It seems to me that organized creeds are collections of words around a wish. I feel no need for such. I know that nothing is destructible; things merely change forms. When the consciousness we know as life ceases, I know that I shall still be part and parcel of the world."
-Zora Neale Hurston
― Zora Neale Hurston, Mules and Men
However, this quote is from her Dust Tracks on a Road, not Mules and Men. It should be removed or moved to the correct text.
Thanks!
Daniel
