aikaterine (missaikaterine) | 347 comments Helloooo! I go the audiobook of this book so I thought it would be great to join the BR and discuss it with you 😃

I started listening to it early because I’m mainly doing it during my commute and it takes more time to get through chapters, haha. But I really like it so far midway through Chapter 3!

I went into it blindly and I’m really excited about the concept. The villain having amnesia and posing all these interesting questions regarding the life he can’t really remember…
And, it’s actually a brilliant way for us to explore this world through his eyes, as he rediscovers everything! Very invested so far.

Jen K | 1547 comments This book was not on my radar but looked fun and had access to the audio. Listened to the first 3 chapters and completely hooked so far.

It is really different with a dread lord not remembering anything. I love how he judges himself and love the goblins- especially the apron. It is pretty fun so far.

Brianna C | 1254 comments Not quite through the end of chapter 1 so I will certainly circle back tomorrow when I catch up - had a random vet visit today so life happened. lol

Jen K | 1547 comments I am thoroughly enjoying the dry humor as Gav tries to be good. I loved his wardrobe change and the consequences. Also enjoyed the attempt for a princess dinner complete with flowers and the pops of clothing on the goblins. I'm very looking forward to the garlic festival.

Jen K | 1547 comments Through Chapter 10:

I really appreciate the women in Gav's life now (the mayor, princess, Orla and wizard) and hope he listens to them. I also love the secret that comes out from his steward. The messaging of being oneself is a bit heavy handed but appropriate for the story. Let the garlic festival begin!

Brianna C | 1254 comments I will just be a day behind for now but through the end of chapter 6:
It's growing on me and I am curious to learn more about why he lost his memory and what the big plan is with the princess. I actually do enjoy the goblins - especially Orla.
I agree that it's an interesting way to approach the story in the sense of he lost his memory and we are learning things as he is learning things.

Brianna C | 1254 comments through the end of chapter 10:

I am still fairly surprised by many moments of this and am excited to see what happens. The secret that Siraco shared is pretty adorable. The only reason why I am struggling with this one is the chapters are so long. The ADHD is ADHDing so it's been difficult to get caught up. lol

I also agree @Jen K about the messaging around being oneself but also make good choices (insert meme of Jamie Lee Curtis in Freaky Friday here)!

Jen K | 1547 comments The chapters are long!! And with audio, I admit to getting the names a bit mixed up but still super fun. I got past chapter 14 today so I will hold off comments until the end.

aikaterine (missaikaterine) | 347 comments I totally agree that the chapters a re too long for an audiobook. And sometime I just have to pause before the end of the chapter and when I resume later I’m totally lost as to where we are xD

Finished Ch 6 and it’s a good story so far, although I have no idea where it’s going, haha.

Brianna C | 1254 comments I am so glad it's not just me feeling the length of these chapters. I also didn't think about how that would translate to an audiobook and difficulty finding good pause points. That would be rough!

through end of chapter 14: Things are picking finally which is nice. Still feeling a bit bored so hopefully whatever spell that is in the works brings some intrigue. I like that Gav is still learning and trying to do his best but still unsure of his motivations - only to please the princess or because he really does want to be a better person?

Jen K | 1547 comments I just finished. It got a bit hectic in the end tryin g to keep it all straight on audio. I enjoyed the read. Excited to discuss when others finish.

Brianna C | 1254 comments Finished so ready to see what everyone else thinks!

Jen K | 1547 comments I enjoyed the humor and voice. The messaging was a bit heavy handed and it got overly complicated by the end but I was satisfied with the ending.
