I'll vote for dark just because it's quicker to find

message 102: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn | 5975 comments I already have a book done that has melt in it

message 103: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
I also have one banked for melt, so we'd only need one more

message 104: by Shan ~A~ (last edited Oct 22, 2024 06:59PM) (new)

Shan ~A~ | 715 comments I posted a book for melt on the SS, so that makes three

Ela (Mouse333) | 2604 comments Okay, so we've got the theme sorted for this week

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
We've got the last signature bake all sorted now, so please everyone go ahead and post your books!

Ashlyn | 5975 comments Can you please post for me today?

No problem!

message 109: by Ela (Mouse333) (new)

Ela (Mouse333) | 2604 comments Which theme are we going with this week? MPG Horror or Orange cover?

message 110: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
I'll very likely have one for orange cover by the end of the week, but if people have stuff for Horror now then we can roll with that

I don't read horror, but I'm finding it hard to find orange covers

message 112: by Shan ~A~ (new)

Shan ~A~ | 715 comments I'll be reading The Dead Zone this week, which is MPG Horror.

However, if we get more for orange that's cool as I'll be reading my book either way.

message 113: by CassieCruel (new)

CassieCruel (faith_isola) | 96 comments I can read a horror if needed too

message 114: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 178 comments I have an mpg horror I'll finish either today or tomorrow

message 115: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
Looks like we still need one more horror book, but other than that all the contestants/bakes are in for this week, so everyone please go ahead and post your books!

message 116: by CassieCruel (new)

CassieCruel (faith_isola) | 96 comments I don’t think I’ll have time to complete a horror before Monday now, forgot I have In-laws stuff to do

message 117: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
Oof, hope the in-laws stuff goes alright!

message 118: by CassieCruel (new)

CassieCruel (faith_isola) | 96 comments Me too, would rather cancel and be reading, but don’t think that’s gonna happen

message 119: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
If no one else has a horror already done, I can blitz through one pretty fast today for our last theme book

Shan ~A~, for the book you have logged as page points, you could probably count any of the women it focuses on, or the author herself, as the "MC". That's what I usually do for nonfiction that doesn't really have a protagonist. Might fit a category that way!

Thanks! I need to update the books I put in banked and I'll look at this as an option.

What do we think about the theme tasks for this week? I don't have one for either at the moment, but I'm guessing hot/cold will be easier than PUDDING

I'll be on the lookout for both during my book selection this week. I do think PUDDING may be harder to find, but easier to spot.

I agree. I'm not sure how to look for the 'Features both a hot and cold location', but I could reading Three Mages and a Margarita for PUDDING in series title.

message 131: by CassieCruel (new)

CassieCruel (faith_isola) | 96 comments I’ll keep an eye out for hot/cold, currently reading a book set in California but whether they travel far enough is a different matter

message 132: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
I wonder how distant the locations have to be? Like if the whole book takes place in one castle, but the bedrooms are freezing at night and the kitchen is always hot, would that count?

message 133: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
Ok, I have one for hot and cold but I won't post it yet in case we want to do PUDDING instead. Any more thoughts on that?

message 134: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn | 5975 comments I don’t think I have anything for either. I have like 7 books that I need to write reviews for and just haven’t had time.

message 135: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn | 5975 comments Oh wait I have one for Hot/cold

Ultimate Justice (K-9 Special Ops, #3) by Tee O'Fallon
Hot: “I’m fine. It was getting hot in here, so I lowered the window.” Loc 2995
Cold: “The room had turned cold” loc 2592
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Pages: 400

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
Sweet! We'll go for hot/cold then, cause we only need one more

message 137: by CassieCruel (new)

CassieCruel (faith_isola) | 96 comments When does it need completing by? Prob a silly question, but is it Saturday night or Sunday?

message 138: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
Sunday!

message 139: by CassieCruel (new)

CassieCruel (faith_isola) | 96 comments Fab, I might be able to squeeze one in then

message 140: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 4064 comments Mod
We need one more for hot/cold. Shan A, I know you have a ton in banked. Do you remember if any of them mention places that are hot and cold? If there's a hot room or something in the Barbarian Ice Planet one then that might work nicely

message 141: by Ela (Mouse333) (new)

Ela (Mouse333) | 2604 comments I've just finished The Frost Queen's Blade, which I think works.
2%, "knew that the caress of hot dry air on her skin..."
18%, "But in this room with the assassin, the air so cold and the walls so close..."

Do you want me to post it?

message 142: by CassieCruel (new)

CassieCruel (faith_isola) | 96 comments I’m reading Can't Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne - there’s parts of the kingdom that are hot and cold

Yes please, go ahead and post it! I think it'll count - the mods aren't usually too fussy about stuff like this

CassieCruel (faith_isola) | 96 comments Do you still need me to use my book for this week’s theme?

I know Taffy has Coraline in banked. Doesn't Coraline celebrate a birthday in that one?

message 149: by Ela (Mouse333) (new)

Ela (Mouse333) | 2604 comments I think maybe birthdays happen in books more often, but I don't have a book for that or balloons on the cover.

message 150: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn | 5975 comments I have one for the birthday that I finished yesterday
