Gonzo is a mess, turning to the bottle and shutting his teammates and Christina out as he grieves the loss of Arnold and feels guilty about his death. He’s rejected therapy and it wasn’t until Sam forced the meeting with Skip that he began to make progress. Was his reaction typical or normal? What else could have been done to help him or did he need to get there on his own?

It is impossible to force someone to get help or accept help offered. I think his response is a type of survivor's guilt. Gonzo has to be ready to move forward on his own.

My thinking, too, Sharon. Everyone has to find their own inspiring moment. All family and friends can do is sit on the sidelines and offer support until they’re ready to make their move toward help.

Force's portrayal of Gonzo's struggle is one of the only aspects of this book that appealed to me. It was realistic and heartbreaking. Christina's support and their love for each other is wonderful.

It really is realistic. She did a good job or portraying the reality of guilt mixed with grief.

I agree Lauren and Jonetta. She is more realistic with some of the support characters and their situations.
