Mike | 107 comments I have commented on this topic before. One of the most recent hated books is Fractal Noise. The author effectively cured me from ever reading another book that he writes. This year's worst so far is Fire Weather: A True Story from a Hotter World. The author seems to believe fire is alive. This melodramatic trope ruined the book for me.

Evelyn (evelyntheshadowsinger) | 39 comments I have a list...

- The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake (the characters were SO hateable)
- These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan
- Peak by Roland Smith
- Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George
- Valiant by Holly Black (literally wasn't necessary whatsoever)

Mahin (mahina97) | 3 comments Probably not the worst of the worst that I've read but right off the bat I can think of Throne of Glass. I went in with high expectations and it was just so, so bad

Zilicia (teachermomz) | 13 comments Worst book I’ve ever read? 50 Shades of Gray. That whole series was garbage, poorly written and not at all believable. Ugh.

I loved this book. What didn't you like about it?

message 16: by Brent (new)

Brent | 102 comments Agreed with a few of you. Despised Throne of Glass and 50 Shades of Grey. I guess I’m also not the target demographic, lol, but I wanted to find out what all the hype was about. I found the writing and languid pacing of both to be terrible. I never DNF books, but I actually quit 50 Shades about halfway through.

Wait until you read Haunting Adeline. 50 Shades is high end literature in comparison.

Justine 🦊🍂 | 15 comments The Children’s Book by A.S. Byatt: This one just didn’t do it for me. It’s a sprawling historical novel that follows several families from the Victorian era through World War I. While the premise sounded interesting, I found it overly dense and slow. The sheer number of characters and subplots made it hard to stay engaged

Children of the Master by Andrew Marr: I had high hopes for this one, but it fell flat. The political intrigue and character development felt underwhelming. It seemed like it was trying to do too much without really succeeding in any area. Just couldn’t get into it.

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro: I know this is a beloved book for many, but it just wasn’t for me. The dystopian setting and the concept were intriguing, but I found the pacing too slow and the characters a bit too passive for my taste. It left me feeling more frustrated than anything.
