Choosing group read for next 12 months (mostly 2025)
Yes, Teri-K is right.
Like I explained in this message, everyone has 6 votes. The first gets 6 points, the second - 5 pts, etc. I will sum up all votes (points) at the end of October (or rather at the beginning of November). The book with the most points we will read first (in December this year), the book in the twelve position we will read twelve months later (in November 2025). No poll is needed.
And let's do, as suggested, October our “break” month, and November a reader’s choice, where we reread our favorite Heyer and explain to the group why it is our favorite. In December we are going to read the winner of this voting. We need such a solution because I want to give time for voting (to the end of October) and then November will be time for everyone to find a copy of the winner.

Thank you! Got it now.

Venetia
Frederica
Faro's Daughter
Cotillion
Friday's Child
Black Sheep
I could start in December, but happy to go with majority.
Thank you Mela!!
So, the winners are as follows:
December - Black Sheep (with 47 points)
January - Venetia (with 46 points)
February - Frederica (with 42 points)
March - These Old Shades (with 41 points)
April - Devil's Cub (with 29 points)
May - Cotillion (with 26 points)
June - Arabella (with 19 points)
July - The Unfinished Clue (with 17 points)
August - The Unknown Ajax (with 17 points)
September - The Talisman Ring (with 14 points)
October - The Reluctant Widow (with 14 points)
November - Detection Unlimited (with 12 points)
---------
We have an impasse with the last (twelfth) book. Four titles got 12 points (Detection Unlimited, The Black Moth, The Convenient Marriage, Sylvester or The Wicked Uncle). I suggest two solutions:
1. I will roll the dice, or
2. We will vote.
Please write which way you prefer. Let's decide by the end of November which way we use. If more members of the group choose the second solution, we will vote in December.

For December 2025, I suggest a vote, maybe in October, to give people time to get hold of the book selected.

As for choosing the Nov 2025 read, let's vote this December (2024).
(I think I've correctly parsed your instructions??).

Ah, good thinking, Barb, get the whole list for 2025 locked in now - definitely gives members time to get hold of the books. I’d be up for a vote now, as well, sorry, I see Mela said that - if we opt to vote, we’ll do it this December (2024). Reading is Fundamental! Sorry, I haven’t finished my coffee…thanks for pointing that out, Barb.🤪

By the way, I have forgotten to vote ;-) I was so concentrated on all else that I forgot about myself ;-) Well, there is next year.

Yes!

Yes!

Oh no! Yes, do pick December as a thank you for all your hard work stepping in when Jenny was unwell. (Jenny, I hope you're back to normal and ready to read with everyone!)

That's good news! My city library has it but when we moved, I didn't want to give up my special library card from the city where I grew up. The whole state system is connected but if I want Hoopla, I have to get a new card. I mooch off a friend and my dad has a new library card I need to set up. You can catch Hallmark movies on Hoopla too. They had a couple of Jane Austen themed ones in February if you haven't seen those.

You are so nice, Teresa, Susan in NC, Emmy, QNPoohBear and Susan in Perthshire.
If no one is against the idea of me choosing the book for November 2025 I will pick (from these four) Detection Unlimited, because (so far) it is the only one of Heyer I didn't finish (next to a few other detectives stories I haven't tried even yet). I hope the next time, I will read to the end. ;-)
If anyone is against my choosing the book, please write it. If no one writes by the end of the month, I will add my choice to November 2025.
[Sorry for writing so late, I forgot to check the thread.]
