Accounts being hacked

Found a book I didn't add in want to read shelf deleted it and then changed my password. I think my account might have been hacked :(
recommend changing your passwords.

I think I might have been hacked now! There are books that I’ve read years ago that have been appearing on my update page saying that I’ve read them for a second time when I haven’t.

And just now another book has done that and when I’m trying to access my review to delete the second read date it’s saying error and won’t let me access it. It’s deleted the book from all my shelves and deleted the original read date which is really annoying because I hate when it messes up my past organisation and I read it over 2 years ago so I have no idea what the read dates originally were.

I’m going to change my password and hopefully that stops it

sorry to hear this Kadi, I hope nothing else on my page was messed with. make sure you're following strong password guidelines. I hope this doesn't happen again. keeping track of books is one thing but the community aspect as well.

It’s actually kind of scary because I’ve been going through my shelf now and I can see they’ve been doing it for a while and I just haven’t noticed.

So many of my old reads have been “updated” like I’ve just read them now when I read them years ago. If people hadn’t been liking the updates then I never would have noticed.

It’s deleted the read dates of one of my books and I don’t know how but it’s been deleting the book covers of a lot of my books. Like looking at my shelf now a lot of the book covers have disappeared. The disorganisation of that is killing me!

It must be an ongoing issue because that’s from months ago! Typical that they haven’t fixed it yet but it must be affecting a lot of people. Very annoying!

so annoying just did a password change

And another update on the missing book covers, a librarian on the librarian group just messaged to let me know that there are librarians going around combining ebook and kindle editions and when they do thag it removes the cover of the book so the cover then has to be restored.

So typical that they do a half job and then it’s ironic it doubles the work for them!

This means I haven’t been hacked, goodreads is just messing with me a little haha

The read dates are from a bug that goodreads team is apparently trying to fix for 3+ months lol
